Kontakt 6 worthy for a good koto library (Koto 13 / Koto Nation)

Hi there! All of my libraries work on the free "Kontakt 6 Player", plus Vienna Symphonic Library which is not even compatible with NI. I want to purchase a $99 Koto library (Koto Nation), but it requires full Kontakt player (Kontakt 6). I only do orchestral and ethnic instruments. I was shocked to find out that I need to invest $399 to purchase Kontakt 6 (with instruments I will never use) just to be able to play a Koto sample library (the other serious option also has the same issue "Koto 13"). I understand all the issues involving licenses among sample libraries and NI. I also understand that I could come across the same problem again in the future. The fact is that I have invested a lot of money on VSL and libraries for Kontakt 6 player, and do not plan to buy new sample libraries for a few years. My question: Is there a solution for me not to spend my $399 to play my a good koto sample library? Is there a way I could simply get the samples of Koto Nation and add my own extra koto sample to make a new one in Nuendo or Logic? Thanks in advance!

Thanks a lot Uwe! It sounds a great solution and many scales to study (the link for scales did not work though!). The only think I was concerned is that the lowest string of the 17-string koto can be tuned to Bb0 but the lowest note is a C1 (17 strings C1 – E3). I am also concerned about using Kontakt 6 Player since it says it will only work with Kontakt 5 (version 5.7 or higher).

With the range and stuff I have no idea, but I guess if they say they have fully sampled a 13 and a 17 string koto it must work, at least in extended mode. If it runs with 5.7 and higher it also runs with kontakt 6.

Maybe you ask them about the lowest note, they have a support mail adress

    Hi Uwe,

Sound Factory answered me within 24 hours and kindly answered many questions. As for the 17-string Bass Koto, they said that I can use pitch bend to bring the pitch down so that will simply do the job. You really made my day since I could not afford Kontakt 6 (full version) and this Koto sampler (Princess Koto Kaguya) does cover more scales than I found in any English published book, and probably more diversity of articulations and techniques than Koto 13 and Koto Nation for actually less than half price than Koto 13. Customer service was outstanding too (to me the most important thing when I purchase software (and the reason I switch from Sibelius to Dorico). Educational discounts are also available which is unique for a small company. Thanks! Jose

Finally I purchased "Princess Koto KAGUYA" and also "Shakuhachi Premier G", and they worked with Nuendo 11. They are both probably the best out there for what you pay. They worked just fine with Kontakt 6 Player. Thanks Uwe and also thanks to Premier Sound Factory for their invaluable support before the purchase.
