I'm currently trying to install the Factory Library on my laptop, but I'm receiving the following error message when trying to install from Native Access:

The target volume has about 75 available space, and the download volume 76Gb. I'm struggling to understand how this would be insufficient for downloading the Factory library? I know the library in itsels requires 23Gb, so this kind of baffles me.

I'm confused by your wording. What do you mean by 'target volume has 75 available space and download volume has 76 GB'? Do you have two separate volumes on your hard drive? What size is the drive you're installing to and how much space do you have left? Hard drives don't like to be too close to being full; generally anything more than 75 to 80% full isn't good. Also are you talking about JUST the Kontakt Factory library which is about 25 gig when installed or the whole Kontakt library which is more than just the Factory library? You know - Vintage Organs, the various Drummer libraries, pianos, etc.

Sorry about the confusion. I'm trying to install the Kontakt Factory Library (23.26Gb in size) on my laptop. I am not trying to install my whole Komplete package, but rather separate downloads. I've set my Native Access to the following settings:
    Skjermbilde 2017-03-08 kl. 14.16.10.png
/Volumes/LAGRING is a MicroSD Card I use for storing all my content, and I'm using my internal hard drive to download before installing. I've also tried different variations of this, to no avail. Since my original post, I've cleared up space in both drives, leaving well over 100Gb available space in both drives, but this only seemed to make things worse:

Installing any other product from Native Access seems to work just fine, but this just won't take.

Keep in mind that the installation process requires extra temporary space on your system drive (in addition to the space which is used up for the downloaded installer files). So try to use a second or external drive as download location.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm doing. I've also tried using an external drive with well over 1Tb available space for download, which yielded the exact same result.

OK, then it's best to contact NI Support about this. Calling them is usually the faster option (phone numbers can be found in the link in my previous post).

Thanks for your help so far, I'm not super stressed for time, so I sent NI a message. I guess I'll update the thread if I find a solution to my problem.

Your´re sure you have enough space on your Main-Volume ???

USERS / YOUR USER NAME / DOWNLOADS /

    AND...

    APPLICATIONS / ...

use the same space on your main volume (Macintosh HD or what you have told)

    So:
If your Local HDD / SDD has 3GB space - you can´t download 2GB file and parse the DMG/PKG or install 3GB from download... - you need 10GB space on the volume, for download, parsing DMG/PKG and installation files (last one, only if the installed directory is the same volume)...

Yeah, that's why I wanted to use separate volumes (both with well over 100Gb available) for downloading and installing.

Thing is, things seem to have worked out! For some bizarre reason, I was able to install the library last night with no issues at all. I have a theory that this might be related to the space reported as "purgeable space" in Disk Utility. Anyways, the problem seems to have worked itself out.

I would never use any kind of memory card for storing content for actually working from. Those are never as fast as a real drive whether a spinner or ssd.

I think it's probably gonna do the trick for now, but I'm definitely considering getting an external SSD for future gigs using this setup. Using my SD card is just so darn practical. ;-)

Practical - maybe but not performance oriented. Don't be surprised when, not if but when - you run into issues especially when trying to get data real fast off that drive especially for live gigs. I sure as Hades wouldn't depend on that. Time to get an external non-green drive. For those of us that use samples of any size that's the only way to fly.

I'll use an sd card or other such for sneaker-netting stuff from my internet machine to my daw machine but that's it.
