Kontakt instrument installation help-please?

I have been running Kontakt 4 player from elements for a little while now, trying to learn to use it anyway.

I have purchased Scarbee Pre Bass, downloaded, unzipped, ran the installer/updated via service center and so on. But it will not appear in Kontakt player.

I contacted customer support, but they responded with the information that they cant offer support because I am running on a Vista system and they "didnt test the product on any previous OS to Win7."

Now that I dig down into the information, and see where the Scarbee system requirements refer you to the Kontakt system requirements I see that...... But I have been running Kontakt on Vista, so common sense says.......

Hey, anybody wanna help a soul out? Ever run into this? Figured it out? I was planning to upgrade to 7 soon, but not ready yet!

 

Well the specs on the product page say, Kontakt 5 player or Kontakt 5, so I don't know if Pre-bass will work with version 4.

But you could just download and use the free Kontakt Player 5.

Well I have to say that should have been obvious to me, I read into it that it worked with the player edition, completely missing the fact that it was developed for version 5. That might just work!

So now the question, if I install V5, will my instruments for/from V4 still work, and do I have to jump through any hoops to install and configure, and should/can I uninstall V4?

I have the same question basically on Guitar rig, as I have both V4 and V5, but the V4 came from the Elements edition and therefore has some more stuff "unlocked."

And again, thanks! I am ok on most DAW and VST/VSTi stuff, but am still completely stumped by Kontakt.

 

The Kontakt (full/player) and Guitar Rig version 4 and 5 can be installed side by side.
So if any instruments shouldn't be working with K5, you can still use Kontakt Player 4 for it.

 

Solger, I just wanted to update you, and let anyone else know that might be working through similar situations.

Installing V5 and re-running the installer for Pre-Bass, as well as running the service center for updates and registration and so forth worked, and everything from V4 is there in V5 as well.

Now while I am aware that its no problem having V4 still on my system, I'd really like to conserve storage space and its redundant at this point. So I'd like to uninstall it, but fear it might also remove librarys or functions....... Anybody know what happens/how this works? I just wonder, why updating to the latest version wouldnt automatically replace the older version, or at least prompt you with the query about replacing it if you wish.........

If you have any 'old' projects that used Kontakt 4 then keep Kontakt 4 for those old projects or go back and switch them all to Kontakt 5 manually.

Its your call... if you are not going to need Kontakt 4 for anything in the future, uninstall it.

Myself, I prefer to keep it.
