    Hi

Maybe I'm missing something obvious here... but I can't seem to work with the Midi Channel Function in Kontakt-patches.
    Example:
    (Pro Tools 11, Windows 8.1)
I use a 88 keys midi-controller for playing notes and a smaller keyboard for Keyswitches. The Large one is set to Channel 1 and the small one is set to channel 16. When I try to match these up with the Kontakt Midi Channel of a Kontakt patch, Kontakt still reacts as though the small keyboard is on channel [A]1. When I set the patch to channel [A]16 it doesn't get the input from the small keyboard but it DOES get the signal from the small keyboard when I set the Kontakt Midi Channel to [A]1. And I'm 100% sure I set the small keyboard to channel 16.
When I try to do this same mathing up with a Pro Tools Midi Track it DOES work so it seems to be a Kontakt problem. Or maybe I don't understand Konatk well enough...?

Anyone with a clear answer to this issue?

    Thanks!

    Jorgo
    p.s.: I can't seem to find a search-fucntion on these N.I.-forums. Is that correct?

Searching the forum is in the far upper right corner of this very page.

I assume you are using Kontakt as a plug-in within Pro Tools -- not as a standalone app.

I think, if I understand you right, the issue is that Pro Tools might be re-channelizing the audio. That is, if you record-enable a MIDI track that's targeting Kontakt, channel 1, it's taking all incoming MIDI and now forcing it to send to Kontakt channel 1 (ignoring whatever incoming MIDI channel your keyboards may be transmitting on). I think this is the way most/all sequencers work unless you specifically defeat this behavior. I'm not familiar enough with Pro Tools to be able to tell you if they have any options to change/defeat it.

ProTools user here so here's what happens:
PT does to a certain extent ignore what channel number a controller keyboard is set to. It looks at MIDI ports. To send a specific PT MIDI or Instrument track to a specific MIDI channel in Kontakt while working in the PT Edit screen enable Instruments view from the pulldown menu for the Edit screen. A column will appear in the left hand pane of each track next to the comments window and there you can specify which MIDI channel in Kontakt will receive the MIDI. By default the MIDI in a PT Instrument track goes to MIDI channel one (or it should). You should also be able to change the MIDI output routing of a PT MIDI track by way of the output selector field without having to have instruments view selected.
