Kontakt: Missing Files "Assumed" Location

I hope I have posted this to the correct section of the forum. Recently I purchased and installed Kontakt 6 in my Windows 10 PC. All is well except with 3rd party instruments, so far only from Pianobook. When I open an instrument in Kontakt, I am faced with the "Content Missing" dialog box that the files cannot be found and are assumed to be in a location that has never actually existed on my PC (E:\\Samples\Spitfire Audio\...). I can manually navigate to the proper folder and load the instrument, but Kontakt does not remember the correct path next time. I have searched through all settings to see where this "assumed" path comes from to no avail. It is a total mystery to me.

I tried a fresh install of Kontakt and all files, and cleaned up the Window registry, all of which made no difference whatsoever.

Of course it is very inconvenient, time consuming, and tedious to manually navigate to the proper folder every time to load a 3rd party instrument. And somewhat surprising that Kontakt cannot remember specific paths.

Does anyone know how I resolve this problem with Kontakt? Any help is appreciated.

It appears that the NKI was saved with an absolute path, not a relative path. Once you locate the samples, just save the NKI (you know, File -> Save) and next time you open it it should not prompt for missing samples...

Hello Blindeddie. Thank you for responding.

In the dialog box I am presented with, I don't see where I would have any option to choose File>Save a NKI file. If I browse for the folder where the samples (or the instruments) the files will load. But Kontakt will not remember this next time.

Where else should I be looking for saving a modification of the path for an NKI file?

After much exploring after being inspired by Blindeddle's response, I found a solution.

Select "Search Filesystem" as shown in the image I posted previously, Once "Search Filesystem" has found the files, then go up to the "Load/Save/Open" drop down menu found in the top right toolbar of Kontakt (it looks like a small computer disk - see image in this post) and select either (1) "Save As" to save the NKI file, or (2) "Save Multi As" to save the NKM file.

This brings up a dialog where you can rename the file or leave as is to overwrite it. I chose to overwrite each file and to save "Patch Only." Before clicking to save, at the bottom of the dialog box, uncheck "Absolute Path".
