Why can I onlyload one sample per Kontakt 2 or 3 sampler?

Since I upgraded to cubase 5, Kontakt loads with only one stereo mixer channel. If I load more than one sample I cant hear the second one.

Any Ideas how to change/resolve this?

Not sure what you mean. Do you mean output channels? (If so, just click the Add Channels button.) Do you mean instruments? You should be able to load as many as you want. Maybe they are set to the wrong MIDI channel input?

You may want to post a screenshot so we can see what's going on.

If I load up two samples into kontakt, then only the first one plays.

Also, you know how when you used to open up kontakt or Battery in cubase you got 8 output channels automatically. You could then add several samples and route them to different outputs. I only get 1 channel now everytime I load kontakt or battery.

I added a channel to kontakt but that did nothing. I need to know how to create multiple channels, route samples to separate channels, then create cubase channels to route them out to.

This all used to load up automatically in SX3 when I loaded kontakt or battery, but now all I get is single channels in Cubase 5.

Load two samples into Kontakt? Into the mapping editor? Do you drag them on top of each other? On to different keys? Need more detail.

I now have two samples playing at the same time. Obviously I set them up to use different key ranges.

The problem was that the second sample was being assigned midi cc2 (next available). If I change it to cc1 it plays.

Now I need to add kontakt channels to cubase. Any ideas how to add edditional channels?

I think this is a Cubase 5 issue

I've just upgraded to CB5 and having just read the manual a couple of times I think I remember reading that if you create an instrument channel it only allows ONE stereo input. If you want more you need to create a MIDI channel first then add the VST instrument for more as many inputs as the VST has outputs...

Might be wrong but off the top of my head its something like that.

Check out the CB5 manual on Instruments verses Midi channels.

    cubase outputs/inputs

do f11 - vst instruments - there's a little widget to the right of the vsti - click this and a dropdown of outputs will appear.

choose as many as you like

    Yeah well spotted.

I clicked the option 'activate all outputs' in relation to the vsti in question. Cubase then created channels on the cubuse mixer for any active outputs in that instance of kontakt.

    Great stuff. Thanks
