Kontakt Player: saving patches/changes to instrument

Hi, basic question I can't seem to find an answer to that works (or that I understand correctly):

I'm adjusting the many settings on NOIRE in my Kontakt Player (I do not have KOMPLETE) and want to save my new sound.

Saving via the player menu - clicking the disk icon, Save As..., editing the default title - leaves an .nki file, looks okay. Loading this file up in a new instance of Kontakt, however, loads up the initialized patch of NOIRE, the default, NOT my parameter changes/new preset. I tried that a couple of times and don't know what 'save as multi' means.

BUT, saving via the Logic Pro X instrument window Kontakt is housed in DOES work. I can load up my cool new patch variation via the Logic instrument window dropdown.

There may be a downside to this way and I want to know how to reliably save my fancy new patch via just the Kontakt controls - how?
