The last four strings work fine in solo, but in context, Kontakt skips some notes and causes sound dropouts for the last four. This happens for the beginning but stops glitching past the intro. Tried adjusting the DFD buffer but no change. The MIDI logos randomly blink for the last four legatos, so I suspect it's not a disk speed issue since the problem stops as the mix progresses. A small fix was putting the troubled strings in a separate Kontakt. Why does this happen on one instance of Kontakt?

The issue may be that because you have purged the samples in each of the instruments, that those last 4 samples are trying to load “on demand” and causing the dropouts. And the Midi indicator blinking is not random, it is indicating that midi is coming in to the instrument from the sequence...

I reloaded the samples and there are still dropouts. I don't think it's from the purge. I selected "Update Sample Pool" which clears up note samples that are not in use. The MIDI indicator for the last four is blinking randomly considering that it's not consistent with the long legato MIDI notes. It glitches on its own on playback and causes Kontakt to miss notes. When the last four instruments are in solo, the MIDI logo stays lit and there's no issue. But when I unsolo, the MIDI indicators start glitching for the last four.

Is there a possibility that there are midi events being sent to those channels from another Track(s)? Also, is there any automation on the correct tracks? The behavior you describe sounds like events are being received that are interfering. One thing to try is add the midi monitor KSP multiscript so you can see what is being received on those channels when the dropouts occur... make sure to use Verbose mode in the monitor as it will give you a running list... you may also want to check “send midi to outside world” as maybe (grasping at straws here) there is some weird midi loopback happening based on script generated midi being sent out of Kontakt... that’s pretty much all I can think of...
