Kontakt sequencer won't stop after MIDI region ends

    Hiya,

    During playback, when the MIDI region has ended the sequencer keeps playing the last note. It almost sounds like there's a bug in the 'latch' button. I have it set to off, and it actually behaved itself one time (after I'd been clicking it on and off). But most of the time the sequencer continues to churn out the tune of the last piano roll note when the MIDI region has been passed by the playhead.

    Do I need to send a CC command to stop the sequencer or is this maybe a bug?

    I'm just using automation to turn the sequencer on and off for now.

    Hmmm I see no issues with the Latch button in the sequencer here. However I don't use Mac/Logic, so can't help much there. It would be weird if Logic didn't send any note off events after passing the MIDI item end...

    I've just started encountering the same problem with Modular Icons, but using FLStudio 20.8.

    Sometimes the sequencer does what the midi clips says (in this case it's a simple 2 beat hold on C#, then after 2 beats it repeats), it'll play it's sequence, stop when the midi note stops and starts again when it's retriggered.

    Other times however it'll trigger and just carry on playing. While hitting 'stop' does stop the playback if you hit start again then it'll continue to do the above until you hit the ! icon in Kontakt to emergency reset the instrument (while stopped in the DAW) and then it'll work as expected for a while before breaking again requiring the same dance.

    Modular Icons 1.2.1
    FLStudio 20.8 build 2115
    Windows 10

    Presets used;
    Clouded (C#4, held for 1.5 beats); with Swing set to 0%, defaults otherwise
    Black Matter (C#3, held for 2 beats); defaults, no changes
    Latch & Retrigger off in both cases

    Single bar repeating loop, 86 BPM

    Is there a chance you could put together a small FL Studio project with just Modular Icons showcasing the issue, no other plugins in it?

    Sure, it's attached.

    To reproduce it should be a case of open in FL Studio, hit play and stop a few times and the problem should start to happen.

    My test before upload it took 3 start/stop tries before it would happen - in all cases I made sure to 'stop' after the note's end point.

    OK I see what happened there. It seems that something locks up when you stop transport before the note is finished. Will look into it.

    Just double checked at my end, and yeah, seems I was wrong in my comments about about hitting 'stop' after the note is finished - my bad, sorry - so yeah, hitting stop with the note active here reproduces it instantly.

    If you end up with a beta/test version you'd like tested feel free to hit me up and I'll give it ago
    (also, now I know what causes it I can work around it locally, so cheers for that )

    I think I have found where the issue is and I have a fix, but unsure when next update for all Play Series products is slated for.

    I'm having this exact issue using Cubase 11.0.0 Build 300 and windows 10. I'm having to automate faders/mute to actually get analog dreams to stop, even when exporting a mixdown. Any movement on a fix?

    Currently no updates for Play Series are planned, sorry. It's not up to me!

    There is a known trigger for this issue. Basically, you shouldn't stop transport while a note is being held down. This messes up the internal keys pressed counter which then also triggers the hung notes if you start the transport again.

    Ooof that makes things difficult. I'm working on a piece right now for a major project, would be helpful to get a quick patch pushed through. Since you guys already have the fix, can you forward this thread to those that can make the call? Much appreciated!

    Just for transparency. I am the developer behind Play Series framework. This is not my call, I have already brought this issue to those in charge. Other priorities at the moment...

    yeah......, just bought Modular Icons, and this issue is a huge PIA. Running Nuendo 10.3 on OSX Mojave. All I can do is automate the volume on any tracks using this library that are making use of the sequencer..., but this means any sustain/decay/etc. gets cut off. I'm also having issues selecting snapshots. 90% of the time if I click to select the next snapshot using the little arrow, it will select the first snapshot (Bass - Almost Electric) regardless of what snapshot is currently selected.

    Jan.20 EvilDragon, a developer of NI, wrote that he has a fix for the issue. 4 months later this fix is still not provided to the users. Come on...

    EvilDragon No allegation against you. Far from it. You've fixed the issue into one day, which is quite fast:thumbsup: I blame whoever is responsible that your work isn't part of an update yet.
