Kontakt Silver (Sibelius) vs Mbox?

    Hi,

    I'm trying to get Sibelius to play back through an Mbox. Sibelius is using Kontakt Silver sample player. Audio Setup says it's using Core Audio, and other apps work fine (iTunes, Digital Performer). Kontakt audio is coming out of the speakers, however. What am I missing?

    Go to Kontakt's Setup box and you have to manually assign it to send sound out of your audio hardware.

    Thanks, but the only thing that shows up in the setup box are
    "CoreAudio" and "BuiltIn". System Preferences | Sound shows that the
    current output is Digidesign Mbox and other apps work just fine (iTunes,
    etc.).

    Once you've chosen CoreAudio, one of the lower pulldown menus should show all available CoreAudio devices. I assume the mBox should appear here. If it doesn't you'll have to take it up with Digidesign.

    (I seem to remember a while back that Digi had handicapped their interfaces to only run with their software plus Apple's OS, not with third-party software, but I haven't kept up with this issue and have no idea if it's still true or if the behavior has ever been changed. In any case, you'll have to ask Digidesign about it.)

    Thanks. That was it. The Digi CoreAudio setup will allow you to edit the
    list of "supported apps". Why they do this, I have no idea. However,
    Sibelius launches, plays its launch tune through the Mbox, then crashes!
    Now I"ll take it up with Sibelius.

    Appreciate the tip.
