I think that NI must start the ARPs production for Kontakt and create 10000 Arps exactly like Motif XF have. Every instrument to have articulated arps that can emulate perfectly the nature of that instrument . Also i think that Kontakt can become a step forward Motif XF because the Motif is pretty limited and Kontakt can be updated continuously . Every Kontakt instrument can be updated with articulations..etc

I think that Kontakt needs wave and articulations quality and NOT quantity . For example Motif XF uses only 700 mb waveforms but in combination with ARPS and the capability of XF engine&programers team , Motif sounds much more realistic compared to Kontakt ..

I just think that Kontakt team must open their eyes and look in the right direction . I don't want to end up needing a 3 terabites HDD drive just for the kontakt libraries and another 3 terabites HDD for backup ... is a little to sad and pathetic

    1) How do ARPS emulate the nature of an instrument?

    2) Why not create your own in Kontakt?

    3) The Motif uses PCM synthesis, that's why the library is that small, Kontakt is a WAV/AIF sampler, it uses full recordings for samples. I never heard anyone say a Motif sounds more realistic then any WAV/AIF sampler with enough samples in it.

    4) Are you aware that realistic articulations must have their own samples? That adds to the numbers of samples. If you want a realistic flute both non vibrato and vibrato you need twice as much space.

So now we can't be against your idea? Nevermind that Motif doesn't sound better than Kontakt and its 3rd party libraries no matter how many arps it has.

    xD
    Happy new year everyone!

At least I took him more seriously then he does me :)
Someone who considers 3TB of samples sad and pathetic won't explain himself.

All students who enjoyed playing on their expensive Yamaha stagepiano's get their socks blown off when they try my simple Doepfer LMK2+ connected to the New York Grand through my little Rokits.

But of course the Motif can sound better then Kontakt. If you use all its sample memory for one instrument from the Kontakt library and compare it to the instrument in Kontakt after tossing out 90% of its samples :D
A 4 layer chromatically sampled stereo piano with full decay will take ages to load though.

Since we can't report verbal abuse (I'm aware some would consider my reply condescending, maybe I'm too used to teaching) I added the op to my ignore list. So please don't quote him when I'm around or I'll still read his posts :)

you people know nothing ! looolllll . Go and hear the Motif . Motif with expansions is miles ahead Kontakt and any Kontakt libraries. Is not about the size of samples . Is about the science of synthesis and sampling and programing . For example an 200 mb Motif library sounds like a 200 GB Kontakt library . For example i have the Motif Complete Orchestra library . Nothing in this world can beat that library for symphonic instrumemnts. Nothing . Motif costs 3000 eur . And is a mind blowing instrument designed for acoustic emulations . So for acoustic emulations Kontakt have no chance agains the Motif,,

I heard the Motif. Its strings sound like **** compared to LASS, Cinematic Strings, etc. Thin and sterile sound on the Motif (because of lossy compression in the ROM - Kontakt does not use lossy compression at all) - completely without any kind of character. Just not good enough. Motif's guitars are not bad, but they sound inferior and are less playable than Orange Tree and Ilya Efimov libraries (because OTS and IE libraries have some of the most amazing scripting around). There are other examples I won't even get into. But, in short: you're wrong, your arguments are completely flawed, so get over it. Goodbye, fanboy.

ok maybe i\m wrong but the motif libraries are just crazy for acoustic emulations. Of course the Motif factory sounds are not so good but the expansions are something different and this combined with arps ..i don't know

I don't understand why NI don't implement the Motif arp technology inside Kontakt ..This will bring lot of inspiration

Because the arpeggiators in Motif work differently - they rely on the samples that are in Motif's ROM, to make convincing guitar strums, for example.

Why this cannot be done in Kontakt? Because it would have to be compatible with ALL 3rd party libraries available for Kontakt. And that simply cannot be done, because different Kontakt libraries have different samples, some have articulations that some other libraries don't have, there is a lot of differences, and you simply cannot make a single script that would work with all available libraries in the same way. Is it a bit clearer now?

Why would Hollywood composers, producers and arrangers use all these big computers, running Sibelius side by side with ProTools and use hundreds of gigabytes of samples when they can make their orchestral scores using Yamaha arpeggi and one sound module :)

    Ok, more food from me:
The Brass demos sound like car horns - what are you talking about realism - LOL - and the strings sound harsh, synthetic and totally unrealistic. Listen to some VSL demos if you want faked realism, there is nothing like realism with orchestral samples anyway once you've worked with a real orchestra and experienced the real sound. Just wake up and open your ears...

ok maybe you're right . Now I need the most realistic and complete Kontakt sample library out there .Anny recommendation for strings pianos & simphonic stuff ?

Couldn't agree more. Not many people know what an orchestra sounds like anymore, that's why samples can be used for the big screen. And why some musicians can be fooled by PCM synthesis.

Every checked the programmed version of the Rite of Spring on the VSL site? http://www.vsl.co.at/en/67/702/703/413.htm

The ultimate test would be to let the OP make an orchestral piece and send us the midi file so everyone can compare his Motif recording with our Kontakt based sounds.

ok but normally an orchestra means 60 instruments all playing together . This means 4 or 5 Motifs ! used at maximum capacity . For example 20 Motif detuned sound strings to play at the same time on 20 separate tracks etc .. So in this situation i don't think that someone will see a difference between a real orchestra and Motif . Of course 4 Motifs are too expensive )) lool so i stick with Kontakt . But i miss my Motif arps . That;s the problem .

Maybe Kontakt factory library can be updated and expanded with acoustic emulation arps . And those arps to be used only with the original Kontakt lib ?.

I explained you why that isn't possible. Even within the factory library, different instruments behave differently, have different articulations, mappings, etc. Generic arpeggiators exist, but to have something that's like on Motif doesn't seem viable at all to produce.

Have people forgotten to actually PLAY the instruments, so they have to rely on arpeggiators?

is important to have arpegiators for inspiration ,acompaniamment when writing songs etc . In some situation let-s say you are uninspired and you grab an arp and by changing that arp you bring something new . So you become surprised by the result. In others situations it wont work .But in my opinion is good to have arps .lool))I think that Ni must rebuilt the Kontakt factory samples ...
