Hi, I have a problem which is rather strange. First, here is what I"m working with:

    Mackie Control Universal
    Mackie Control XT
    Sonar 7.02
    Kontakt 2 and Kontakt 3 as VSTi's
    EWQLSO Platinum
FX-Teleport (to teleport Kontakt across 5 additional servers)

The problem is easy to explain... When I enable automation-write, either via the MCU or by mouse in the track inspector, ALL of my notes on ALL of my tracks (about 95 in this project) loose ALL thier sustain. It's almost as if the note length is quantized to 16th notes on every track across the board. When I disable automation-write everything goes back to normal. I enable it and it goes back to having no sustain.

    Things I've tried:
    Closing the session and restarting.
    Closing Sonar and restarting.
Reverting to a previous version of the project

I'm out of any more logical ideas. Do you think this is Kontakt or Sonar?

    Any ideas?

    Hi Logicology,

Actually I don't have a clue but off the top of my head it almost sounds like a polyphony problem. Are you useing sustain pedal in your midi automation by any chance?

Sorry I wouldn't know what to say beyond that.:S

Have you used Kontakt's MIDI Monitor script to check if the MIDI input changes, when you enable automation write? It's a great tool for trouble shooting.

No I haven't... that sounds like a good diagnostic tool. How do I use that?

T.S. might be on to something here. First thing I'd do is go into Kontakt's options menu and under engine, set CPU overload protection to disabled. That might fix it...

Open the instrument's Script Editor and in the first empty script slot load "Utilities | Midi Monitor" from the Script menu at the left side of the Script Editor. Once the script is loaded enable "Note On" and "Note Off" - this will allow you to see all note-on's and note-off's, the instrument receives. If you disable "Verbose" you only see one Midi event at a time - by watching this when you play the line, you should be able to see if the note-off's are premature.
