Hey everyone, I've got an odd thing going on with Kontakt.. whenever I run it (standalone or as an RTAS in Pro Tools LE), it tries to connect to the other two computers in my apartment's network. Every time, without fail. Anyone know what causes this and how to get rid of it? Thanks!

    and it is annoying...quite strange

seems like it wants to mount the shared network files.

odd - is what it is.

Hi, Do you have the harddisks of the other computers in your browserpath?

Sorry, just had to bump this.. no, the other (network) drives are not in my browserpath.. I recently added Logic Platinum 6 to my computer, and it does the same thing on startup.. very odd. I've turned filesharing off in System Preferences, but I still get it every time. It's not a huge problem, but still annoying.

I wonder if Kontakt has confused its default path.

Check out options/General and look at the 'Installation Path' to make sure its pointing at a local location.

I'm having the same problems, on two systems. There must be a conflict with Logic/panther, as both of my systems use Logic 6.3.3 on Panther. As soon as I open up Logic, it tries to log into every server that's listed in the network. The two systems I have are a G5, with a fresh system install, and on a G4. This is with Kontakt ver 1.5.1. Has anyone else found a solution for this problem?

Just a followup: This also happens in standalone mode when I go to the Tools: Refresh Browser menu. Kontakt must be trying to log into everything on the network.

I get this too. Either it scans the network for available servers, or there is some hidden OS X cache of recent servers that it ends up finding.

Can any of you guys tell whether it reaches out to all available network systems, or just one that you have previously connected to?

Yes, it attempts to connect to all servers it can see on the network. When I say 'it attempts', I mean the Finder is trying to make these connections. It's looking for computers I haven't ever connected to in the past, so it's not a problem with a recent server cache. It'll even try to connect to windows computers using the SMB networking protocal which is built into OS X.

    solution

I had the same problem until I have changed network to "only local" (only one time), then have run KONTAKT and KOMPAKT and changed again after using the network to automatic.
Now i have no problems and need to change network. KONTAKT and KOMPAKT don't ask for network anymore.

    still a bug...no fix yet

This 'local' only option you suggest must be a preset in your own network tab that turns off all filesharing services. I need to be connected to a network, so that's not an option.

here's the response I got from NI, however there is no file tree for the network volumes. In fact, if I am actually connected to a network drive, there is no way to remove it from the Kontakt browser.

    From NI:
"This happens when network volumes that are mounted in the Kontakt browser are open (+). This is a feature and not a bug.

Please close the file tree for the network volumes if you do not wish to use this feature."
