I wondering if anyone is having similar problems as I? Here is my set-up.

    Powerbook G4 867
    640mb ram
    OSX.2.8
    Logic 6.3.1
    Kontakt 1.5.1
    Rektor 4
    Absynth
    Oxygen 8
    Maudio DUO

If I have an Audio Instrument track record enabled, so I can play the AU via midi, then open up the Kontakt AU , Logic crashes. Everytime. If I open kontakt on another Audio Instrument track it works fine.
Another problem I'm having is a bit more serious, I'm experiencing crazy latency at random. When using Kontakt as an AU or standalone. I don't have this problem with any other program, plug-in etc. It very random, sometimes I'll have a project open and it will have latency, sometimes it won't. The exact same project. Sometimes all I have to is restart the computer, but this is a pain in the ass when trying to be creative. I have the latest drivers for the DUO and the Oxy 8. Any Advice would super cool.
    Thanks
    Brad

    Hmmm......

I don't know how to answer you, I have a Mac G4 and a PC P4 2.4ghz; as I started migrating toward the PC about 2 years ago because of Giga. Am I the only dummy out here, or did I just get lucky.

I own Logic 6.31 Platinum but have never installed it on my Mac because i hear about all of the massive problems that Mac guys are encountering. It scares the hell out of me, and I've been using a Mac since the 80's.

So far, with few exceptions, the PC side of things has been pretty stable for me. Nothing like the kind of stuff some of you guys are talking about. I feel bad for you guys, but I also feel no closer to doing Logic or anything else either on the Mac because of all the problems with OSX.

Anybody doing both? What's your take on things?

    dont worry photosynth,It'll be ok?

    mac g4,oSX10.2.6 Logic Platinum 6.3.1.
Hi, Logic to me and my mac on OS9.2/OSX10.2.6/OSX10.2.8 Is totally rock. I used to use a PC and cubase/cubase sx etc.. once apon a time and my life was hell. I wouldnt worry about Logic on it. Seriously Solid. 1 crash in 3 months and i use my studion ALL the time(14 hr days) Also, honestly compared to SX,Logic is so better layed out and far more intuitive.(Ive used both a lot) but, Kontakt is about to go in the bin here due to problems. Im sure the'll get it sorted but NI's stuff always seems to work better on the PC.
    peace...

Wow - I'm an SX user, and I've tried to work with Logic many times (there must be something about it!), and "intuitive" does not jump to mind. I'm amazed an SX user could succesfully switch to Logic, it's so different! Doesn't really matter now, though. No more Logic for Windows.

Logic actually works great. I can't remember ever having a problem using it. (knock on wood!) Learning it was not difficult. I worked in the tech dept. of a music store so I've used all of the major sequencers. I was a big Digital Performer fan for about six years. Anyways, I don't think Logic is the problem, I'm positive that it has something to do with Kontakt. Whether I'm using it as a standalone or a plug, I get crazy latency at random. Sometimes it's there sometimes not. Using the exact same files! I never even had a latency issue until Kontakt. I'm not using DFD cause that might make things worse.

Oh, I'm sure Logic works great; all the pros swear by it. I just recall sitting down with - over the course of two days - and not being able to even get a MIDI track going...every track is an "Object" and can be anything!?!? Seemed like Quantum Theory to me. If I ever get around to getting a Mac, I'm sure I'll learn it and learn to love it; but I would definitely need some hand-holding to get it down.

As for Kontakt's performance: as a former user of Cakewalk's Sonar, I can vouch for the fact that nothing worked as perfectly as Kontakt inside Cubase SX. I've always had the feeling that native VST is NI's specialty, and all other formats are kind of works-in-progress, tyring to get them up to par. And now with 1.5, it looks like the "error" part is even spilling over into the VST version! I'm sure they'll wrinkle out the bugs eventually. Kontakt is too good.
