Hello everyone - new to Kontakt.

I noticed in the instrument that is loaded, there is an option under Source, for DFD, or Sampler. I noticed that when set to DFD, the memory usage is lower. I know DFD is dir from disk, but is there a disadvantage to using it this way? Obviously less memoery usage is good, but is there a reason NOT to use DFD, but sampler instaed?

    Thank you!

theoretically the CPU hit is lower with sampler and you can use sample start modulation ...

    hope that helps

Yes - steff3 is right: Sampler mode is required e. g. in case you want to use sample offset, for things like legato effect etc. In DFD mode this will not work.
