I need a simple single output (Kontakt2_1out.dll) right now. Nothing but a stereo output, no aux channels or anything else cluttering the vst mixer.

Can someone at NI make this happen?

well you make it happen yourself.
Just create one output only, assign it to output 1/2 and ignore the aux.

Nothing easier than having a single stereo output.

No, there are still more than 1 channel in the mixer and when you load several instances of K2, it adds up and taxes the CPU, especially at low latencies. I don't want any surround sound channels in the vst mixer. For instance Kontakt2_8out.dll produces the following clutter:

    Kt. st. 1
    Kt. st. 2
    Kt. surr. 5.1

I need a Kontakt2_1out.dll that produces the following and nothing more:

    Kt. st. 1

    Load the normal Kontakt vsti.

Show up outputs. Delete all the channels, you don't want.
    Ignore the Aux ...

Then press the little red button to the right, Make Default.
Next time you load the Kontakt 2 Vsti, you just see one stereo out.

Don't forget to open the little "Conf." button on each channel and assign the right outputs.

And this is the result, a total of 27 channels for 1 instance of Kontakt2.dll.

hmm, i don't know how to say and without any means to sound offending, but are doing something completely wrong.

why don't you just use the manual for that? :)

    it is really simple:

    open kontakt2
delete the channels you don't like until you just have one stereo output.
then push the little conf. button on the stereo pair and choose your outputs.

sorry, but i really don't understand how you get 22 unassigned outputs :)

Because that is how it defaults in Cubase, even if you configure the ports and hit the Make Default button.

Ah okay, but it looks funny anyway, when you see my post and then his answer. Seems like he got that configuration because of my description.

The output configuration is for the internal UI for K2. When you click the VST track that K2 loads up into in Cubase, it has about 32 separate outputs, with about 27 unused or so. Its highly annoying, I wish I could configure it but no one seems to know how.

Well, maybe I don't understand anything, but I have no problem to load up my K2 in Cubase by only having 2 outputs.

All you have to do is delete all the outputs you don't need, keep the first stereo output, assign it to mono 1 and 2 out and then hit the red button "make default" ... then every instance of K2 just has these two outputs.

When you expand the VST track, you see about 27 unused audio outputs. At least, that is the case in Cubase SE 3. I'm not sure what DAW you're using, but that is how it ends up for me. I can't delete the audio outputs either, so I see a bunch of those when I don't want to.

Could you take a screen shot of your Cubase set up?

Oh, I just assumed you are on Cubase 4 also, sorry about and don't ask me why I did that :)

In Cubase 4 you have a little drop down menu next to the instrument slots of the VST Instruments window. You can choose which outputs should be enabled and visible.

I get the same thing in Tracktion. I can see one stereo output in the Kontakt interface but the host is recognizing a whole lot more outputs. I would like to see this issue resolved as well!

My hobby is programming. I had compared Kontakt2_8out.dll with Kontakt2_16out.dll and made Kontakt2_2out.dll and Kontakt2_4out.dll.

    Gemic,
Sorry to disturb you, but do you have a
8 stereo output version of the dll?
    trif.

    Back to the original question:
    The simple answer is:
just create a new INSTRUMENT-track in Cubase 4, load Kontakt as the instrument and you'll have nothing more than exactly ONE stereo out, because instrument are designed for stereo use only.
