'd love to see some two-deck mode... parallel waveforms, something like an extended X1... I'm looking forward to customization possibilities...

The D2 is not made as an X1 replacement. It is primarily an A/C - D/B controller. It can be used for A/B but not in the way an X1 can.
The screens have not been designed to show parallel deck waveforms.

Some customisation will be possible but it will be limited.

Well if Deck C could be a ordinary Track Deck and be the same size in the display as Deck A then I really wouldn't care that much if it is called Deck B or Deck C :D

Is it possible to use just one D2 to controll 4 Trackdecks?

@karlos: Agree. Won't happen. But the current button layout would allow a various amount of layers and give a total new approach of the X1 concept including more variable setups independent of computer screen... I used to decline those screen-controllers, but I learned to see the advantages... Having the computer aside, for browsing, a good view at the crowd yet a screen for optical mix check. Didnt the X1MKI have several physical layers? Let me dream, I know there are too many people who want it their way ;)

see as a bigginer dj who mainly mixes Dnb and dubstep, this kind of seems useless, however im looking into trying different routes and genres to mix with (house, deep house, some trance, less trap) and in these cases i feel like it would be a great tool, it seems to be a 'what kind of dj you are' tool that somebody already mentioned here thatll decide if youll use or not, does it give as many sample options as the f1? it seems like way more pads on the f1 than d2

Yes. With D2 you have control over 4 decks.
But, is it convenient for you?.

Sure, two D2s would be better than one, but can't afford two at once.

Yes. You can select the deck with the Deck+FX buttons.

I think you missed my point. You must never put a soundcard on a hub - powered or not. Never.

Good to hear that one D2 controller can control all 4 decks. I'll get a second one as time allows as they're going to be about $700 here in Oz, which would be a bit of a sting in the tail to get two at once in my current situation as a full time student.

As this answer I gave seems to have worked it's way onto the DJWorx comments section I should clarify - you cannot control all 4 decks at one time.
It's either A+C or B+D, much the same as the S8.

I didn't want people thinking this was a full 4 deck controller.

Ah fair enough. I can get away with a D2 and my current X1 Mk2 for a while then.

    A+C and B+D?
    No A+B and C+D?

wow...this kind of forces the people to buy two D2.

No A+B c+d control lmao??? my interest went from 100 to 0 really quick.

That sucks alot I was at least considering getting one but now that you have to buy two in order to use it properly, you are better off just buying the S8. I was thinking this could be a replacement to my x1 but now i don't even know.

You cant A+B at the same time on and S4, S2 or S8 so why would you on a D2 ?
If you could control A+B you would be controlling deck A with the transport buttons and Deck B with the remix/performance section. That does not make any sense.

If you remap the performance section it's possible but that is not what the D2 is designed for.

People that see design flaws in something that wasn't designed to do what they want are not looking objectively.

As I have already said, the D2 is not meant to be an X1 replacement in anyway.

It's maybe not meant to be a x1 replacement, but it could do the Job w/o any problems....only Problem is greedy Company NATIVE INSTRUMENTS!
I can't afford 2 d2 at once, were the heck is the problem for native a/b, c/d, a/c and b/d mappings? Even a/d and b/c shouldn't be that much work.

But who cares; somebody has to pay the promovideos with the big names.

Just use Deck C as a Track Deck and Toggle via the Deck Button. Where is the Problem? Because it is not named B?

You have all information on the D2 anyway. So it is no disadvantage to have shown 4 Decks on the Laptop and still use just A and C

It is a lot harder and much more complicated than you are giving thought to.
To have both A and B decks controlled at the same time you would have 2 totally separate sets of controls per deck.

That is perfectly possible. Maybe not totally desirable but definitely possible.

    Yes, I believe so.
