I prefer to face my audience, not look down on a display.

Whilst I agree (to some extent) I have my laptop to one-side so I have clear view of the crowd and I can glance over at the laptop.
However, DJing with CDJs and vinyl both involve 'some' looking down. Less so with vinyl but people still look at the mixer to watch the levels.
You don't have to look down constantly or anymore than using CDJs.

You have already said "this is not for me." in this thread.

Hey Karlos, I have two technic 1200's and a Traktor Z2. For gigging out do you recommend the two D2's with my Z2 or should I invest in the traktor S8 you think? I don't wanna buy the S8 and then they come out with a four channel z4 lol. Thanks

Yes, you're right but I'm not too late to change my mind if someone can convince me. ;)

That's a tough choice. The S8 is awesome but have you become accustomed to the Z2? If so and you like the Z2 then 2 x D2s would be a great modular setup. But, I get the feeling you are looking at 4 channel options - genuinely do not know if a Z4 is on the way.

Using the D2 with a hardware mixer is a lot of fun and gives you the options of just using the mixer alone.

    Tough choice mate.

Very, very, very good answer... you got me there:thumbsup:

@markino2003@mac.com Karlos posted the measurements on page 3 of this thread, but not the weight. "Measurements: L(38cm) x W(20cm) x H(4.5cm) - Height can be adjusted with internal legs extended to 9cm." But I'm sure he will have access to that information too and will respond shortly.

Sure, two USB ports in a powered device should work exactly like a HUB... even better I hope.

Yes. One D2 can power 2 more controllers such as the F1, X1 etc.

I read through this thread and I know this has been asked but, is buying two D2's basically have just either side of the S8, I just don't see the difference or I must have missed it in the details.

    I have been wanting to get a Z2 ( I Have a Z1 now) hoping they go back on sale for $599 again, and I currently use X2 X1 MK2 and X2 F1 with a Z1.

I am just wondering because I don't like the concept of the S4 or S8 big one piece machine to move around, if it is more of a benefit to buy X2 D2's and a Z2

The minus of the S4/S8 is that you have to plug into a mixer channel, the D2 is just a controller, that's the substantial difference so if you wanna use the D2 you must have a sound card or use your laptop connected to a mixer, in this way the sound quality will be much better because nobody will allow you to connect your controller directly to the main input of the club audio system.

Hello guys I was wondering if any of you that already has a d2 has a problem with waveform display, mainly when switching deck like A/C to B/D or when i have two track decks on the d2 the waveform dont show on the d2 screen i see the song title and can do everything but seems like the waveforms lag or i dont know. Waiting for the next update meanwhile..

I totally agree. There seems to be a true advantage using A & C vs. A & B. But I guess not everyone will see it that way.... smh

I really like the concept behind this and will certainly be looking at picking up two of them. My only gripe is that I really hate layer switching to control multiple decks. If Traktor 3.0 allowed up to four to be hooked up, I'd be perfectly willing to throw down for the extra two thus allowing me to DJ with the lid down on my laptop. The S8 isn't an option either as I use the aux channels on my Xone 62 for Maschine.

As it stands, I'm going to pick up a 2nd F1 to complement my setup (X1 x2, F1, Xone 62, Maschine, Audio 10 & Komplete Audio 6) and look at adding the D2s later.

Z4 is imminent in my opinion. It makes no sense to release stems and D2's with no 4 channel mixer.

Price drop on Z2 just shows its on its way.
