Kontrol F1 Midi Mode Issues on OSX

So after looking through the 28 pages of threads on the F1, I don't believe this particular issue with Midi has been addressed (at the least, not solved), though there are various Midi issues being discussed:

Has anyone been able to get the F1 to show up in OSX's Midi Studio window?
I can see my X1 MK1, the S4 MK2, Audio 8 DJ, and two Pioneer products, but not the F1? I initially thought it might be due to the fact that the F1 is a 'class-compliant' Apple product and does not need device drivers, but the same goes for the S4 (though S4 does seem to have drivers in Service Center)? Is there an OSX driver for the F1 that will solve this (separate from the Traktor 2.6.8 installer)? One does not appear in the Service Center...

I am trying to get the F1 to work with third party software in Midi mode (some people here have noted seemingly unsolved issues with Logic and Ableton). In this case I am trying to communicate with VirtualDJ (for the sole purpose of music video mixing where it is required during a portion of the night at some gigs), which I have successfully managed to run the audio through Traktor. I can control VDJ via my X1 (via Midi) while I use the S4 for Traktor (to manage the mixer/samples/effects), but I want to also use one of my F1s with VDJ in Midi.

I have already changed the Midi mode setting in Traktor preferences, and was able to get the F1 mapped / working properly with MixEmergency (separate video-only software) via Midi mode. I can also see the device (and change settings / templates) in Controller Editor, and I can also see midi signals via a Midi Monitoring program. I was able to get a similar XML device file and mapping working for the X1 in VDJ, but have had zero luck getting the F1 to communicate with VDJ (the mapper is there, but it can't 'locate' the F1 and can't read its Midi signals, so it treats it as disconnected). Given the issues I've seen in the forums here and on VDJ, the success I had with the X1, and the fact that the F1 is missing from my Midi Studio, I currently believe the issue to be on the Native Instruments / driver side (and not VDJ).

I believe this particular issue centers around the devices OSX 'drivername' for the F1. Alternatively, is there a way to figure out this particular F1s Midi SysEx ID (easy to obtain on Windows, but seemingly impossible in OSX)?

    System Setup:
    2008 13" Macbook, 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo, OSX 10.7.5
Traktor 2.6.8 (limited by 10.7.5), Control Editor 1.6.3 (hesitant to go any higher due to OS), current firmware for F1 (confirmed via device updater)

Thanks in advance for any advice / similar issues / potential solutions!

    Hi,

TL;DR (all of it) but with NI's kontroler, sometime you have to open de Controler Editor with the kontroler plugged in and switch the template, and then open the software you want to use midi with.

i'm having this exact same problem.
using F1 as controller for SoundSwitch DMX and it won't show in Audio MIDI Setup.
if i start Traktor it activates or if i start Controller Editor it activates and then i can use its but it's kind of annoying to have to do that each time.
