I've Traktor Kontrol S4 connected directly with the laptop using the USB cable. Is there a way I can connect an external device (e.g. iPod) using Aux cable in iPod and another end of the wire connected to Kontrol S4 using the RCA into input Channel C or D? If I play the song on iPod, will I hear the sound from my speakers through Kontrol S4?

Is there a way I can connect and use iPod with S4 without launching TSP2?
Little background behind the question to explain my pain. During my gig last night, TSP2 stopped responding till I restarted it. It was quite frustrating to stop the music till TSP2 relaunched. I'm wondering if something similar happens; I can atleast let some music run through the iPod (connected to S4) while TSP2 restarts.

You could plug the ipod into the clubs mixer as a backup?

Well Bro, Sorry for the short answer!

Your S4 controller, can not run as a standalone mixer, It means that you need traktor running to make the mixer work! so when TP2 goes down, your ipod is useless.

on the other hand, the denon 6000 runs as a standalone mixer, so you can do your ipod idea, because is doable on that controller.

A quick solution, and I understand about the frustration when the music goes down. It´s to play a song on your tunes or media player software. then and this is the great part. If you know the bpm on the song, when you have you Traktor running, sync like old school, if you don´t know the bpm, maybe tapping on your traktor master clock is the opcion. This solution it´s far away from bein a Pro solution, but is what TP2 let you do in this cases.

I strongly recommend hours of practice at home, checking TP2 stability. before you go to mix in a Party, Because Girls, does not like a loser dj, hahaha:S

That is not true... you can connect an Ipod or other device to deck D and set the switch to "thru". You can unplug your laptop and still have audio going through the unit. The feature is there for that very purpose.

OK Brock, Maybe I´m wrong, but please check this link, there a lot of info there.

Comparing both controller, I like the S4 controller anyway!

What am I supposed to learn in that thread?

I have an S4, and the THRU functions works exactly as I described it. You can run an audio source through the S4 without a laptop connected... you can also control the volume by using the master volume on the S4.

That is something completely different... if you want to use the mixer section of the S4 to control a channel, then YES you need to have Traktor running.

If you simply want an external source for emergency backup, then you can simply connect to the D input, set the switch to THRU, and you will have audio... even without Traktor or a laptop connected.

    End of story.

This is exactly what I was looking for.
I'm having various issues with TSP2 and also Traktor Pro S4 (software), during the gig due to which I've to restart the application. So, if we can hookup external audio device by completely bypassing the application (TSP2 or TPS4), that's wonderful.
    Thanks for the input.
