Kontrol S61 with Cubase 6.5

Hello,

Can anyone tell me if the Komplete software/plugin is compatible/supported with this version of Cubase, or should I just upgrade to Cubase 8?
If it kinda works, but has limited functionality, what is actually supported or not?

I just installed my S61 and Komplete U10 and Im loading Cubase 6.5 (32bit) its currently stuck on loading the "Komplete Kontrol" plugin.... (the splash screen at the start. If I get it working I'll let u know but its not looking good.

 

On Mac you must use 64 bit mode. KK is 64 bit only on Mac and will not work with a 32 bit DAW.
Beyond that, it will work with Cubase 6 if you are on Windows but it will not have the advanced integration features like focus follow or auto setup.

 

Ok so I figured out why it was hanging at splash, you have to load Komplete Kontrol and Machine in stand alone first before the system runs properly (otherwise it hangs on vst plugin scans), So I got it all working.. here are some thing I found out. You have to enable the Kontrol as a controller (input) in Komplete Kontrol or it doesn't do anything when you press the keys... this is kinda studpid and cost me a lot of time debugging. Also yes you need 64 bit DAW if you want all the bells and whistles for the Kontrol inside your daw, otherwise its just a basic midi keyboard.

 

ps. yes its working in Cubase 6.5 but only as a midi keyboard (basic gm midi)
