    hi Telly

The X1 only works in 64 bits if you have the last version 1.2.4. he works fine in 64 bits but the lights doesn´t correspond with the action you made.
Does the light works perfectly in 32 bits mode?

Trust me buddy I'm on the newest version. It doesn't work in 64-bit at all for me. 32-bit works perfectly.

You asked me if i could be stuck in MIDI mode.
What's the diference between midi mode and normal mode?

In the X1's native mode, it outputs in NHL, which is a different format of communication. You switch between modes by using SHIFT-HOTKEY. It's discussed in greater detail in the manual.

    ok.
I didn't make it to switch my mac to 32 bits, however i try another way
keeping my mac on 64 bits and reinstall uptade 1.2.4 but only the controller editor.
After that i've buy an usb hub with power supplie, turn on the audio 8 and the controller X1 to that usb hub because i thought that it could possibily be an energie problem.
And i was right, all leds are now responding, i can switch midi mode or normal mode and the controller works perfectly.
With that solution it´s possible have one or two X1 on mac with 64 bits and use the maximum capacity of our mac that is 4 GB, because with 32 bits, the maximum memory you can use is 2 GB.
    Thanks for your support TeLLy

No, thank YOU. I'm all inspired now, I'm gonna re-download and reinstall Controller Editor to see if I can keep this in 64-bit mode, as I really really want to.

    Hi Telly,

Saturday i've played live with my X1 and it works fine, however, yesterday i turn on the x1 to my mac and the leds doesn´t work correctly.
Normally when i connect the X1 to a USB port, it do some LED-startup
animation every light be turned on just for a short moment, beginning
from the bottom of the device and then wandering to the top, but now when i turn it on he doesn't do this sequence and some lights appears on and doesnt turn off.
It's strange because he worked perfectly last saturday and i haven´t change anything.
    Now i haven't any light.
There is something i am doing wrong? or is there a bug for the traktor 1.2.4 version or the last version of controller editor?
I'm asking that because when i brought the traktor scatch pro i had some problems because my mac is a snow leopard 64 bits and it was necessary install a patch or fix to solve the problem.
I don´t know what is happening...

I still don't get how you got the X1 to run in 64-bit mode. Mine was NOT doing it, even with all the latest. Spoke to NI and they say 64 isn't supported.

Did you actually turn on 64-bit mode for SL on your Mac? As far as I know it's not turned on by default.

Actually the max memory available with 32 bit addressing is 4Gb (2 ^ 32 = 4294967296 bytes). You need a 64 bit kernel in order to use over 4Gb RAM

It turns itself on automatically on the latest Mac models (as far as I know). Or if you have over 4Gb ram.

To disable the 64bit kernel there are 2 ways:
    1. The temporary way.
Press the keys 3 and 2 together when the Mac starts. It will take a long time to boot, and it will boot with the 32 bit kernel. But this didn't worked for me :(

    2. The permanent way.
This takes a few steps and requires the Terminal, sorry. :D
    • Open a Terminal
    • Type : (you can copy and paste)
      Code:
      sudo nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist
    • Look for the line that says
      Code:
      <string>arch=x86_64</string>
      and change it to
      Code:
      <string></string>
    • Press Ctrl+O to save, then Ctrl+X to exit
    • Reboot
    • Note that your Mac will boot always with the 32 bit kernel from now on.
    • In order to reactivate the 64 bit kernel you'll have to revert the changes made above. Or press the keys 6 and 4 at boot time.

When is a new 64bit capable driver coming? Switching to the 32 bit kernel is not funny

Does the 64-bit issue also apply to Windows PC?

I got my X-1 in the mail and went through the install process last night but same thing: initial light up sequence and then nothing. I tried reinstalling the drive and controller editor but still no response.

I'll go back and check to see if the X-1 is available in the controller editor but I don't remember seeing it last night. When I have Traktor's preferences open and select the editor there, the MIDI device selected is "Generic MIDI device, Kontrol X-1 in/out" is selected.

I'll try reinstalling 1.2.5 as well as the controller editor but not sure if that will help.

Nevermind. I figured out that I needed to uninstall the controller editor software and reinstall it in order to get the X-1 to show up in the list of optional controllers. Once I did this, no problems. So for anyone having trouble getting your X-1 to work, and if you already had the controller editor installed previously (I was using it with another MIDI controller), then uninstall and reinstall the newest version.
