The good news is that my laptop is now working significantly faster than it has for ages thanks to CCleaner & O&O Defrag ... the bad news, Kore is still behaving in exactly the same way - no Standalone (hangs at 'Starting Kore') and no VST (crashes Cubase SE & Live 5.2)

I tried the audio processor this morning and it wouldn't work.
I choose the Kore audio ASIO system in Live 5.2 then used the headphones on the Kore Kontroller and I got nothing. Yes I tried the volume knobs...all the knobs.

Live will default to outs 1 and 2. Make sure you have outs 3 and 4 (the headphone pair) both enabled in Live and selected in the output field of the master in Live's mixer.

WIN XP. Abelton LIVE vst plugin.

won't find samples in database even though database points to correct directory.

Won't record automation even though user page is selected.

Can not rename user pages. the curser blinks but does not record input.

Right now KORE is unusable as vst plugin and I will return the product unless these issues are resolved.

    Re: KORE bug list

    1) If the samples aren't found, you should get a dialog asking you to find them. Do so- your settings will be saved with your Live song.

Something else to try- I don't know if you've run your plugins that are having the issues in standalone since KORE installed the new versions- they may not be finding the libraries if you haven't. Try running the problem instruments in standalone. After you've done that, start KORE and rescan your plugins

    2) ?
Works here. Do you have anything in the user page? Which instrument? I want to see if I can reproduce that...

    3) You can't rename user pages in plugin mode due to possible conflicts with the host's key commands. It's in the manual...

Additional outputs channel names not saved with KoreSound

Hi, I'm setting up up a KoreSound that uses all of the Kontakt2 outputs. I add the respective additional outputs as separate channels inside of my KoreSound. I rename the channels to reflect the drum sounds coming from each Kontakt2 output (i.e. kick, snare, hats etc.). I save the KoreSound. I exit and reload the KoreSound, but all of the channel's names that I have modified revert back to the channel name that hosts Kontakt2. An annoying little bug, I guess?

I bought Kore to make workflow easier. What a pain to look for the samples everytime. there are too many bugs to feel good about using this and having my songs glued to a faulty product. darn, cuz I like the concept. I will have to return it if its possible. Should i hang in there and wait for the next update or bail out and try to get my money back? Native instruments still has not answered my support request.

    Re: KORE bug list

OK... let's go one by one here...
    1) the instruments that can't find the samples; are you using the latest versions of each, in both standalone and plugin form? Have you run the instruments in standalone first (you also do that after updates)? If you've updated Kontakt, was this before or after you installed KORE? If it was before, did you run the updater again to get the latest plugin version (KORE will replace the K2.1 plugin with 2.02- you want the 2.1x version)

If the answer to all the above are yes, rebuild your Kontakt database using custom folders (it's in the options menu). Now, start KORE and rescan your plugins... your samples should be found.

    2) I'd still like to know which instruments you're having issues automating in Live...

I'd wait for the update, but that's just me. As far as your support request goes, if you sent it when you posted your first post here, you posted it after working hours on a Friday. It's the weekend- they'll probbably get back to you tomorrow.

    thanks ewistrand,

I have just uninstalled everything and packed up the box to sell on ebay. I encountered more bugs that ticked me off. Like opening a saved live set and the kore instances are all "untitled" I'm not happy about being a paying beta tester. There are too many hoops to jump thorugh to get this to work. I would not recommend it. The out of the box experience has been terrible.

    thanks for the help though.

Don't eBay it, take it back to where you bought it,get a refund, explain the situtation. I'm sure NI will let them send it back, NI knows it's not what they promised.
You would loose too much money on ebay..

Wow...what a nightmare! Sorry NI, but this thing is nowhere near ready for prime-time. Had difficulty from the get-go, installing AU samples from the DVD. Still don't know if they're all properly installed. Probably half the samples aren't found even though they're present and when I attempt a manual search it crashes. Clicks and pops indicative of CPU errors abound even with my dual G5. I would've gladly settled for a WORKING software-only version of some sort of simple cataloguing software without the hardware which I find absolutely useless - just another layer of circuitry and software to hassle with! Mine's going back...I don't have the time or inclination for guinea-pigging this thing. I think it only appropriate to offer us some free premium offering for the hassle. I've lost a day of my life trying to make this thing work. Not happy!

    Re: KORE bug list

    Welcome :)

AU samples? Do you mean AU plugins? KORE doesn't install any samples- it uses the ones in your library for the instrument it's loading.

KORE will use the VST plugins for K3- make sure you have those installed as well as the AU versions. Also, make sure you've got the latest standalone version of each of the plugins installed- if you updated the standalone before installing KORE (in the case of Kontakt with the 2.1 update for example), reinstall the plugin versions from the update installer. Rebuild your database in the case of Kontakt.

You say you've lost a day of your life- did you ever think of asking here for some assistance?

    I'm not sending mine back...

So far my biggest niggles are the names not being saved correctly, the KoreSounds you save not always coming back with the name you saved it under (it seems to default to the patch name in the ens./inst.), -- which is troublesome because it seems that you DON'T want to save the Reaktor KoreSounds you create as patchnames in new banks or overwrite modified patches within Reaktor itself, as these are all referenced by the KoreSounds in the Library. I tried saving different reaktor instances (Junatickle for example) with different banks in a KoreSound, using the bankname in the attributes, but it would lead to crashes. So far, the only way I've found to save Reaktor KoreSounds is to tweak your sound and then save it as a KoreSound with updated attributes. You don't save ANYTHING in Reaktor itself. That's what's worked for me anyhow.

I really like the unified screen for accessing different KoreSounds and the easy access pages for quick knob-twiddling. I wish there were a way to use the controller to open and close the VST plugins themselves. A button to open/close the currently selected plug-in from the controller would be SO convenient.

On the subject of quick knob-twiddling (and I don't mean the kind you fancy from your missus), I wish I had a pdf file (is it already out there and I don't know about it) that listed which Reaktor ensembles are being used in each KoreSound. That way, I could open up a KoreSound that contained the exact ensemble I wanted to work with with the user easy access pages already set up on the first try. I guess I could write this down as I load up different KoreSounds, but hey. It would be really cool if this was incorporated into the browser/attributes itself.

I only bought the Kore at this early stage because of the Komplete 3 upgrade, as I only had Komplete 2. I don't use it for it's inputs/outputs, so that simplifies the matter.

I'm able to draw in controller envelopes in Sonar5 to control parameters I've assigned in a KoreSound, but as of yet, I've been unable to figure out how to setup Sonar to record the knob-twiddlings from the Kore, which I was able to do easily in Live.

Anyhow, I'm keeping my Unit, as it's only going to get better with time/updates. I'm excited for more and more Reaktor ensembles to get "Kored," and when Vista comes out and the Kore supports the 64-bit enivironment (you'll of course do that, right NI?) I'll be in a plug-in heaven. I ran Sonar5 64-bit on Windows x64 for a bit and it could play so many instances of Reaktor and Kontakt2, it was amazing.

    Re: KORE bug list

I usually save the ensemble and snap, too- I've usually added something that changes the max automation ID or the like...

All your factory ensembles have all their snaps mapped out as KORE sounds, so I don't see what you're getting at with your list request.

To record automation from the knobs in Sonar, insert the wrapped VST version as an effect instead of using the synth rack. Right click on the fx bin where KORE is and choose arm parameters for automation. Select all the parameters that come up, hit the automation record button and twiddle away.

I was performing problems with reaktor sounds, it was solved.
Now when i touch the kore hardware level button in e.g "Ukule" R5 sound the level goes to -82db and don`t go further anymore, until i relaunch the performance...

Re: KORE bug list/ VSTs disappear

I installed XPhraze and had Kore scan my VST folder, well it not only doesn't see XPhraze, it sees less VSTs then before.
First my Spectrasonics vsts disappeared, then some of Komplete 3. I did I re-intall of the update scanned again and it's even worse.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks! Riley

Yeah- check on the first page of the options and see that the right folder's set for your VSTs, especially if you have a lot of subfolders. I've had the folder reset on me to one of my subfolders for no apparent reason that I could see- it reset to the subfolder that the KORE.dll's in.

I only have 1 vst folder and Kore is showing it. I'm doing a complete re-install.. Maybe that will get it working again.

    Thanks! Riley
