    Hi Marius,

The results you are getting are much better than C-Notes (he seems to have a problem with his machine) but are still very bad.

My Mlan driver (24 channels out, 16 channels in) which is not the best driver in the world compared to say RME drivers still adds only around 25us-50us when in use. The Kore driver adds over 300us this is not right and is a sign that something is wrong with the way the driver is written.

    Cheers

    Andy

    HI,

To set the latency used by Kore you can use the Control Panel on my machine its is found at "C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Kore Controller Driver\korecpl.exe".

Now with the old driver if the latency was set high useing this control panel then the DPC latency would increase hugely, this causes other drivers to miss out processing blocks of data leading to dropouts in the audio.

With the new driver NI have stopped Kore transfering audio data when the audio interface is not in use so the issue of high dpc latency is also probably gone, I am not sure as I have not done any tests.

But still it is probably worth checking with both high and low latency in the Kore driver to see if there is any impact on your problems.

    Cheers

    Andy

    Cheers Andy,

I tried USB latency from low to high settings - I'd say that generally speaking it was difficult to notice any real difference between any of the settings re. clicks/pops when controlling Kore. My feeling (though I haven't double-checked) is that the new driver is a little better than the old one re. a decrease in amount of audio break-ups.

But still, there is some way to go until I'd feel totally happy with Kore as a controller. And of course, I would like to confidently use the audio inputs and outputs one day!

    Hi,

several users reported crashes with Kore 1.0.2 under Cubase. Could you give us the following information so that we can try to reproduce the crashes:

    - Which version of Cubase do you use exactly?

    - Which operating system version do you use?

    - Does it also crash when Kore is the only plugin in your Cubase Vstplugins folder?

    - Do you have Virsyn Tera 2 or another Rewire application installed. If yes, which one?

Please try to update your synchrosoft dongle driver first. We had a similar problem in development with an older version of the synchrosoft drivers. You can download the latest driver from their website.

    Thank you Marius,
    Tremendous help indeed

Cubase SX 3 (most recent version)
    Synchrosoft driver (most recent version)
Windows XP SP2 (all critical updates installed)
    Symptoms:
Occassionally Kore will give a blue screen upon loading it (and it only) into the VST folder. I could never jot down the exact message before it restarted.
Consistently Kore will crash Cubase (sometimes blue screen, sometimes just crash) if there is ANY other NI synth loaded as normal. For instance if I have an instance of Pro-53 in slot one, and then I load Kore into slot 2 (the slot numbers are irrelevant)...crash.
Rarely will Kore crash as a standalone.

The only other rewire software I have is FLSTUDIO 6, which I never use as a rewire client. My tests have shown the presence/absence of FLSTUDIO is irrelevant in the success/failure of loading Kore.

    Thanks!

    Re: KORE 1.02 bug list

I tried all the latency settings on the KORE controller form. All latency readouts stayed basically the same. The only thing that lowers my latency is when I uplug the KORE usb cable from the controller. Funny thing is that Cubase SX 3.11 works fine so far with KORE. Oh well I'll file a support request if it becomes a hinderance. Finally got my Komplete 3 upgrade yesterday so we'll see how that goes after the install.

    Thanks for your help.

This product is crap right now. I'm sorry, but it really is. I've been uninstalling, reinstalling, updating all @#$%ing day long now!!!

Nothing is any better. Why do these companies do this to us? It's evil, it really is. Now I understand why people by Korg Tritons all the time, though I used to scoff - reliability. The software world is a bloody mess for most (honest) people. For those of us with limited time for working on music, nothing is more hurtful than wasting days on end just trying to get the goddamned software to do what the pretty website says it does. Thanks, NI... you've ruined my day, yet again. Get it together.

    Re: KORE 1.02 bug list

Hello, I posted other question before about Controller pages and I didn't receive any feedback. Anyway there its other problem. After I created a Performance with several Presets I try to reorder the Presets for easy access in a Live setup. The software allow to do it but when changin presets after that the sounds not change and after 3 trys the program hangs and quit after a Windows error page. Can I reorder the presets after I program a couple of them?
    Thanks!

    Re: KORE 1.02 bug list

Whether FL's being used as a ReWire client or not is immaterial; I've heard of crashes with more than one NI plugin (Kontakt 1.5 springs to mind) if the ReWire protocol is improperly implemented by a plugin (or a host that can be used as a plugin) on the same machine, even though NI plugins don't support ReWire.

Try this- do a search, and include hidden files and folders. Do a search for Rewire.dll. There should only be one, and its location should be Windows/system32. If you have any others, delete them. Reboot.

    Re: KORE 1.02 bug list

    Hello Marius

    Re: plugin 1.0.2 crashing Cubase.

    Cubase version 3.1.1.944
Syncrosoft 4.9.5.2 (Released mid 2005 - not really prepared to update this one)
Win XP with SP2 but - because no internet - no further updates.
I do not have Virsyn Tera 2 installed

I'm sorry but I cannot check if Cubase crashes when Kore 1.0.2 plugin is the only plugin in my VST folder because I simply do not have the time for such a lot of messing around. That plugin is not currently installed on my system and I am not prepared to do all that re-installing and uninstalling again. I'm sorry.
    Hope this helps

    Hello Marius

    Re: plugin 1.0.2 crashing Cubase.

    Cubase version 3.1.1.944
    Syncrosoft 5.0.4.0 (Released mid 2006)
Win XP with SP2 but - because no internet - no further updates.
I do not have Virsyn Tera 2 installed
I only have Rewire.dll on my entire system: in c:\windows\system32 folder
The problem is also there when Kore is the only VST plugin
The problem is gone for ONE Cubase session, when I force Cubase to rescan Kore at startup (by swapping versions 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 in the Vst-plugin directory). This is reproduceable at any time.

When composing this message I tried one other thing: rename the rewire.dll to xxx.dll.

After that Cubase works fine with Kore plugin version 1.0.2.
Restarting cubase does not give back the problem anymore.

So it definitely is a problem with Rewire again.

Also Live5.2 works with kore1.0.2 now:
    - it needs 2 rescans and
    - restarting Live without using Kore first, otherwise Live hangs when adding Kore to a track.
Unfortunately I get short noise blibs now and then using the plugin in Live. I did not have that with 1.0.1.

    Korefx.dll never shows up

My Korefx.dll never shows up in any hosts (Sonar5,Project5 2, Live 5.2.1). This doesn't matter in the Cakewalk apps because you can insert a softsynth into an effect slot. In Live, however, you cannot. So I can't, for example insert Kore into a return slot or as in insert fx to a midi channel. The only way to use Kore as an fx in Live is to load Kore into a midi channel and use it as a bus.

I currently have Kore.dll and Korefx.dll in separate folders for easier browsing in Live. This doesn't effect any of the other NI apps that can run as synths or effects.

But anywho, any reason why my Korefx.dll doesn't register with any of my hosts? I've rescanned the plugins a few times in each one. Would reinstalling Kore erase the additions I've made to the Kore Library files and MySounds and make me have to reinstall the Electronic Insts. Vol I and II Kore files, etc., etc.? I know updating Kore doesn't change any of these, but updating never fixed the problem.

Ah... thanks for that info, warlock. That may explain something I've had happening with Live and KORE on my system.

    Re: Korefx.dll never shows up

With Live, the problem may be that Live chokes on the korefx.dll and disables it- Live chokes on that .dll on my machine. I'd try a reset/rescan with the Cakewalk adapter and see if you get an open editor prompt or something along those lines for the korefx.dll.

    Re: KORE 1.02 bug list

Thank you! I didnt receive response for my other two questions but I continue to ask. With the Mapping page you can do Splits and save them as presets. Nice feature but only useful if you can transpose the sounds. If I transpose a sound it changes for all the Presets. Its another way to do it?
    Thanks again!

This is exactly the problem I was having - removing Rewire did the trick. I wonder if an earlier version of Rewire would work though (I was using the latest 1.7) - anyone tried that? (if it's possible to get somewhere) or would it just stop other Rewire apps working properly?
