I'm using the kore 1 controller as a audio interface but the audio that's coming out of it
is of very bad quality it is crackling and dropping out. I'm using W7 dual cure 2.1 ghz
    4 GB ram 32 bit
a kore 1 kontroller with the 3.0.0 driver
kore 2 software updated from kore 1
    with older drivers same problem
    has anybody suggestions?

maybe your latent is too small, so the system cannot handle it?
    look at your task manager/activmonitor.

where is the 3.0 driver? cannot find it.

I recently bought a V1 controller from eBay... have had to send it to NI for repair (broken encoder) but the audio interface part was working fine when I tested it on headphones. (I'm on OSX).

    Hi
    Have a k1controller since 2006 and had
    to buy a real soundcard
I found the sound correct and brillant
    but always crackling.
It seems the latency doesn't change so many.
Did you seen on the forum in the knowedge base ? It talks about setting your w7.

I've tried k1 soundcard a month or two ago
    with drv 3.0 and ..crackling.

    I have a core i5 quad 32nm 3,1-3,4ghz 4gb ram low latency and a rme ff800 64-128 samples buffer w764bit and no problem.

The Kore 1 drivers can be found here:

    http://co.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=freeupdates#Kore_1_Controller

FWIW, on Mac OS X I've never had a problem with poor audio on the Kore 1 controller - been using it for years. The suggestion to adjust the the Latency settings is a good one. Perhaps try the interface on another USB port or through a powered hub.

I've tried other usb ports and other latency settings, also I've tried the suggestions given by the knowledgebase about setting w7, but no results. I think the problem has someting to do with the driver and w7. So I'm thinking about installing windows XP again on this computer (since I don't use this computer for anything else then creating music with it).

Does anybody have experience with the Kore 1 controller as a audiointerface in windows XP?

I used Kore 1 as audio on XP for years. This year I migrated to W7 and still use Kore 1 as audio. No problems.

    Hi geoelectro

thanks for your reply, but could you be more specific about your system? for example which driver version are you using?

I was just indicating that the Kore 1 controller does work fine on both XP and W7. I'll look tonight at the driver number and report back.

This is al very frustrating, I've been mailing for weeks now with technical support, they think it has something to do with the chipset drivers that have to be updated, I've done a lot of scans most of them tell that my chipset is already updated. But I think technical support is right somehow because the Kore 1 kontroller is working fine on my other PC with W7 installed, it's also working fine on OSX

K1 hardware user here - I've gone back to XP (and stayed 32 bit).

    I used this:

    http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml

to sort out the crackles. In the laptop (duo core) I had to disable the battery and run it from the mains. You'll need to use DI boxes with a ground lift on the outputs.

On my desktop PC - older and slower than my laptop, I installed a second hard drive and used it for audio (I use the K1 as my main audio interface for demo recording at home).

It works fine under XP on my (older) machines.

When I first started using the Kore 1 for audio I experienced crackling for a very simple reason -- I wasn't using balanced audio cables. Make sure you have right cables! Haven't any problems since then.

Techlo - can you tell us more? The ins/outs are 1/4 inch jacks. I associate balanced leads with XLRs.

    TRS connector cables.

TechLo is correct. I did the same thing a few years ago - bought a pair of balanced, 1/4" to XLR cables at Guitar Center. Dramatic improvement.

I already knew that, I'm using balanced cable's. And if it we're only crackling it would probably solve the problem, but I also have dropouts. But going back to XP realy doesn't seem a bad idea to me. I'll try that.
