I'm finally downloading the update now, and it seems to promise everything that I personally believe the original Kore should have delivered.

If this is true, I may have to revisit my opinion of NI hardware...

    Cheers,

For many its not a satisfactory update.

    No multicore/multiprocessor support
Inferior 3rd Party preset support , ie no fxp/fxb import export! Thus its adavntage over other hosts is only possible with NI instruments.
Not 64bit (not so important but I bet they do this 1st because it's more sensational)

Shame really. The concept of Kore is great but it's not properly realised yet just because of these MAJOR flaws.

Or in other words, it's like 98% of the plugins out there. While I'd like to see multicore support, I'm not sure I want to trade it for the increased latency that would result.
    ?

There's .fxb import- how do you think batch import's done? As far as exporting .fxp/.fxp, there's not another app that reads the controller assignments and tags- what advantage would you have?
64 bit makes sense, because you get away from the 2 GB of RAM for programs limitation of a 32 bit OS.
    Your opinion...

I wouldn't consider those things major flaws, but I'm running Windows XP on a machine that's turning seven years old in November :) Plus, I'm one of those people who doesn't use any plug-ins other than the ones in Komplete.

Again, I still haven't tried it out for myself, but if it delivers on what it promises this time around, I think I may actually end up FINALLY making this piece of hardware a central part of my setup, which is why I was the first kid on my block with the original Kore (1).

    Cheers,

Sure but you know that there are still some plugins that don't have a built in fxb loader so you can't import anything but the default banks with those. As for export or save in fxp/b format - Kore is probably the superlative platform for sound design and while a lot of that involves creating sounds that would only make sense as ksd's often when I'm working with just an individual synth it would be useful to be able to save patches in a format that could be read in other hosts as well so they can be shared and so I can use them when I use other hosts (I'm sure NI would like us to use Kore exclusively but in the real world...)

You know my take on no bank loader, Stephen- I've been asking why there isn't one since the original Kore 1 betas> As for exporting to other formats, how are you going to do that?

.ksd was originally going to be an open format. Why it was changed, I dont know.

I owned Kore 2 a while ago but sold it along with Komplete 5...then down the line, I repurchased Komplete 5 but skipped kore 2. While I kinda miss its convenience, those reasons are almost exactly why I still haven't bought it again. If I find a way to make the demo version into an acceptable advantage for UAD plugins in logic (currently, while it reduces their latency to 256 samples, they begin using the CPU and all instances of kore will run off of one CPU core), however, I might still be tempted to get it again -- either way, most people who are currently holding off are probably doing so for the reasons you mentioned above :S

It should just have the standard open and save buttons every other host has. Anyway Wusik VM covers it fairly well and these days most synths at least do have loaders (except for the ones made by stubborn devs) so it is becoming less of an issue I suppose but it would still be useful for the few that remain (inc several nice Synthedit ones)
