Yeah I had hoped that the delay meant something big was coming.

Oh well, I'll just continued to use kore 2 with the x86 bridge. So far working in reaper

yeah, i've got it kind of working with Bitbridge in Sonar 8.52 x64, but it's a PITA to have 2 versions of the same plugin installed, especially when the x64 versions of NI products work flawlessly in an x64 environment. for the past 6 months (before i bought Kore 2) i was working towards getting all 32 bit stuff OUT!
and now here i am bringing it back, and dealing with Bitbridge vs. jBridge issues again.

I've been messing with my Kore 2 controller on Win 7 64 bit and only just seen this thread which seems every 64 bit user is in the dog house!

After reading all the posts above it seems that 64 bit compatibility is in HUGE demand but not even close to release anytime soon?

The only reason I've recently gone from my XP machine to Win 7 is because when I bought Cubase 5 it wouldn't run on XP, I thought I was out of date with 32 bit! This meant I have upgraded my whole system to Win 7 x64 to run my DAW of choice only to find all the software that's currently out is incompatible?

I saw someone post above that it's not NIs fault, but really every music software developer knew that Cubase, Logic etc were all releasing 64 bit and could have prepared in time for their release ...

It's just frustrating to know that I'm now stuck with a crashing/freezing/sluggish machine until NI release drivers, patches and updates to ensure good performance.

Ah- the drivers for x64 Windows work fine. And, until NI puts together a bitbridge solution (and Reaktor goes 64 bit), it doesn't make sense for Kore to go 64 bit- remember that Kore's a host for all your plugins, and not just NI's.

And- you left out the biggie in the DAW world- PT is still 32 bit only.

Sorry, have to disagree here. Kore is a host and as such really should take a lead moving into the 64-bit world. Some plugins will take ages to go 64-bit and some will never make the move. Does this mean that Kore will never go 64-bit? surely not.

Why can't NI make a statement as to what time frame they're working to or what else has to be in place for this to happen.

Also, don't forget that 64-bit would be a different product and support/enhancements for x86 could still continue in parallel.

I hope NI are not holding Kore 64 bit based on creating yet another buggy bit bridge solution. There is no need as there are 3rd party bridges that work like jbridge and VE. I see how they might wait for Reaktor 6 though but they should have the Kore x64 ready at the same time Reaktor is released. You can use you host or 3rd party bridge or just use all x64 plugs. Or, you can just keep using the 32bit version.

Also, don't hold up windows x64 waiting for things to get right on Mac.

x64 Kore for Windows upon release of Reaktor 6 please. ;)

Hmmm, I get confused by some things. NI is one of the leaders in x64. I have fm8, GR4, kontakt (player for now but will be getting the full version) and have noticed battery, and massive are x64. I just find it odd that there is what seems like resistance to kore being x64.

i would put the word 'all' in quotes rather than in bold, at least with regards to x64 systems. and i know it's wrong, but i couldn't care less about Pro Tools. are they not the last lagging DAW, with the exception of Fruity Loops 9 (which will never go x64 due to the programming language of the software, according to gol). in a vacuum, PT=FL. ouch!

Ableton's not 64-bit yet either, is it? Is Digital Performer, Logic? Seems like there might be a few.

    Actually Logic MUST be, surely?

Logic is with the latest version and SL. You're right about Live and DP, though.

Are Bitbridge and Jbridge the only two programs of the kind out there? I desperately need one/both of them now to help get over the x64 vs. x32 rut I'm in. I'm able to make tracks if being very patient with the vst instruments but if I had a good 32 bit bridge to handle Kore 2 and the rest of the stuff for now I would be ok... so...

    how well do they work?
where can I get hold of them?

And in terms of the debate over whether DAWs and developers are hesitant to go 64 bit first, make the first move... surely the Developers who decide to go first and release compatible x64 and x32 bit packages, maybe along with a "NI Bridge" aswell would CASH IN BIGTIME.

Whoever the first fully x64/x32 Developers are will surely gain a lot of consumer interest who want to push forward into 64 bit territory

We can only look forward to the day of "64 bit QuadCore machines running 16GB+ RAM and know that every single bit is being used effectively and never having to "make do" when the processor bar in your DAW starts peaking! :)

I don't necessarily think it's resistance; the developers simply haven't gotten around to it yet.

I'd guess that their priorities are:
    - fixing the footswitch issue (beta testing now)

    - Kontakt 4/Absynth 5 compatibility (beta testing now)

    - fixing the Guitar Rig 3/4 issue (no official status yet)

    - updating the SoundPacks to use GR4 (hopefully this isn't necessary)

    - possibly releasing a Komplete 6 KSD installer (no official status yet)

    - adding user pages to Kontakt KoreSounds (announced in October)

    - Reaktor x64 (no official status yet)

    - fixing the bevy of issues certain to pop up with 64-bit Reaktor

    - Kore x64 (no official status yet)

    - possibly updating KSDs and SoundPacks to work properly with new Kore

If Kore goes 64-bit *before* Reaktor does, I'd be surprised (albeit pleasantly).

Keep in mind, this is all conjecture.

I sense a long wait is ahead of us. Luckily I personally am not Jonesing too hard for Kore x64 - but it certainly sucks for those who are.

You should check out REAPER which also has native x86 plugin bridging in the x64 version.

they both have issues that take away from the overall experience of the software. Bitbridge is only available with Sonar, and it's limitation is that i can only have one instance open per project, if i try to open a 2nd, it freezes. jBridge is like 20 bucks, and it's the necessary choice for Toontrack products, Synplant, Sawer and Vocodex, but Kore 2 is, at least from my experience, worthless with jBridge; sure, i can have multiple instances open per project, but don't plan on using any knobs on the hardware, it was aweful. So Bitbridge it is for me. while it's often said that it's really not that big a deal that Kore 2 isn't x64 . . . it kinda is

One instance in sonar hun? I just ordered sonar (haven't used it since version 3) but I'm using reaper right now. Honestly, if it wasn't for the fact that sonar is light years ahead of reaper midi wise (though I don't think it's that bad) I'd just stick with it. The x86 bridge they use has been great so far.

Ah the joys of being an explorer
