Don't dare to go there yet, NI says it's not supported but that doesn't necessarily mean it won't run. Doesn't seem as radical a change as El Cap and there are some nice features I would love to use so I would like to know this too.

i think they said these products won't work and they mentioned the kore controller , so not about support its about it working at all. Let's see with people that upgrade am actually this time will wait no rush at all.

No the email just said 'Please understand that since these devices are no longer supported by NI, we cannot guarantee performance or compatibility with macOS Sierra, or future versions of macOS' - typical disclaimer language, doesn't mean they won't run.

What's the word for the fate of the best piece of music software ever written?

No one tried this combo yet?

I suspect the plugin will work but it's the hardware I'm worried about

The software works, yes, albeit there are some usability issues when running in high resolution (retina), either standalone, or as plugin with the host running in retina: dragndrop does not work for example... but this is not Sierra only, it's a retina/resolution issue.

The hardware works in Win10x64. Maybe, when I find the time, I'll plug it into my MacBook to see if it works in Sierra. Hold on ;)

    HI

No luck for me. I upgraded to macOS Sierra and the hardware stopped working for both MIDI and audio.

Lucky I'd taken a back up so I restored back to OSX El Capitan where I guess I'll stay for a while. It's shame as I still really like my Kore controller and use it lot.

I understand the need to focus on current products but it would be nice if the source for retired products was released to the community.

I'm sure there would be someone willing to spend the time and get this working.

That sounds like a Kore 1 then, I have a Kore 1 and a 2 but at the moment just use the latter so that uses different drivers.

Good point. You're quite right it is a Kore 1.

Still concerning all the same - I might just have to 'freeze' my MacMini

I just had a look at the driver versions on the NI website. Both the K1 and K2 are at 2.6.0 (and the same size and date) so I would think they are pretty similar. Definitely recommend doing a full backup first :)

Gah! I can confirm Kore 2 hardware controller does not work with macOS Sierra

I just got one off eBay (I found a pile of Kore sounds on an old hard drive, I never had the controller at the time but thought, "Hey, they must be cheap now. It'll be fun to try it out.")

    So using these versions

Kore 2 Controller 2.6.0 Installer Mac
    Controller Editor 1.3.5 Installer Mac

Under macOS Sierra, the controller editor doesn't find the hardware nor is there any reference to it in the NI USB Audio entry in System Preferences but, the hardware does flash red when it's first plugged in and it is identified in About This Mac, System Report

Under OSX El Capitan (on my work laptop) everything worked first time

I could roll back my music machine but that seems like a lot of work just to support one device and a few libraries.

What a shame, I guess it'll go back on eBay!

Kore 2 controller works in sierra (10.12.2 here). Just deinstall the complete controller software, deactivate SIP, reboot and make a clean re-install with the latest driver.
Without any deactivation "System Integrity Protection" prevents the installation of some system-level components like older third-party drivers which have no actual security confirmation from Apple.

Can SIP be activated after reinstallation?

I didn't try this (technically it's also described in my osxdaily-link above) and i wouldn't recommend it, because SIP locks access to certain system files/folders and i think that older NI drivers must have read and write access to this area. It's a individual decision to either work with a very small risk (like in all other OSX versions before without SIP) or to go with NI's recommendations for that legacy products.

I can't think of any special needs to leave SIP activated, unless you have a system with many candidates for the "bad software of the year" award. Even Apple has to deactivate SIP sometimes i.e. when you reinstall your OS. It's like taking a sledgehammer to crack a nut in terms of security, maybe in the next macOS versions we don't have access to anything any more.

Edit: Had just tried to re-enable SIP and my Kore 2 controller seems to work ok, showing the Kore logo on system boot and working as it should in Kore. I'll keep you informed, if something else occur...
