    Hi all,

To those of you who are interested in the forthcoming Maschine 2.0 update, I would like to make you aware that Kore 2's VST version is not compatible with the new Maschine 2.0 software. Due to certain idiosyncrasies of the complex Kore engine, it cannot be hosted in the VST interface of the Maschine 2.0, and will fail its plugin scan when loading.

Making both applications compatible would require a substantial revision of the legacy Kore 2 software, which is not a feasible development effort given its long-discontinued status and limited userbase at this point in time.

I have no further information but wanted to raise a flag to let you know.

    Best wishes,
    Keir.

And yet Kore 2 still loads fine in every other host. Sounds more like a problem with Maschine to me. NI seem to be doing everything possible to sabotage their own, once flagship, product

It wouldn't be so bad if Maschine could replace Kore functionally - but it can't even do that. So now we have this crazy situation where the least compatible host and plugins with Kore are actually NI's own products!

so what happens when trying to open a Maschine project that has Kore in it (like almost ALL of mine)?

With some trepidation I post this. I originally discovered this in beta test, so it may be a bit different in the final product. Doing this will probably void all your warranties, give you migraines, and your oldest daughter will get warts. So don't say I didn't give you fair warning. You will notice that Kore Player runs in Maschine 2, so...

    Original posting follows:

I have found a work-around for myself, but it is hardly ideal, nor would I recommend anyone else do this.

Load Maschine 2 and let it complete the VST scan.

Rename your copy of Kore Player.dll in the VST folder to something else as a backup.

Copy your Kore2.dll and rename it to Kore Player.dll in the location where the Kore Player was.

Now it will look like Kore Player to Maschine, but it will be Kore2.
It will run with the VSTid that Kore Player had so this may be weird - I don't know what impact that will have on DAW automation.

If you run Maschine 2 again it will crash in the scan pass.
Since we can't disable the scan, I just rename the Scanner function to disable it.

For me the NiScanApp is at:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Maschine 2
    and it is called
    ScanPluginsApp_x64.exe
    which I renamed to:
    ScanPluginsApp_x64.exe.xxx

The 32-bit scan app (if that is what you need) is in the same place.

If you add or update VSTs you will need to rename these back to the way they were and then go through this again.

When you close Maschine2 you will get a display of the log file showing an error in trying to do the scan - ignore it, that's what you wanted.

One big difficulty with this is that all the NI products that I'm aware of come with an uninstaller that won't run to completion if you move things around or rename the installed product.

Every upgrade runs the predecessor uninstaller, so changing anything makes future upgrades very difficult.

I know, I've gone down this path many times and it always leads to a big mess of problems.

So if you don't mind messing around in the registry or making symbolic links or whatever, have fun with this hack.

But I warn you again, you will probably regret it.

This is still the case to an extent. However, there have been some improvements in Maschine 2.0 that make it closer to Kore functionality.

    • We now have the ability to layer sounds with the pad link up to 16 per group. This feature works correctly now and is more a sound link than a pad link. No more fussiness and it is very straight forward to layer.

    • There is also internal midi and audio routing including side chaining. Multichannel VSTi's can have their extra audio outputs routed freely and there is now multi-timbral instrument support. The only routing drawback compared to Kore so far is you can't rout sequencer or arp output from a plug-in to another sound.

    • Midi file import and export to groups.
    • We now have the ability to rename plug-in parameters and pages.
    • Unlimited groups allow more flexible sound design and multiprocessor support certainly helps.
    • Maschine has also acquired a few very nice affects over time not present in Kore.
    • Drum synth sounds really nice and great for drum sound design.
    • The browser is a bit more detailed with products and banks for NI content.

It would be great if NI could get Denis from Surround SFX (http://www.surroundsfx.com/) to re-make the Deep Series for Maschine.

He has made some of the first Maschine 1 expansion packs.

    fwiw:

Mac Users can still use the AU version of Kore 2.

the VST version of Kore 2 fails the scan, and as a result cannot be seen - the AU version passes the scan and can be seen and used.

also both VST and AU version of the Kore 2 PLayer 2.1.4 pass the scan and can be used.

if you have the Kore Player version - i have the Player and full versions - you can still load the Deep Series series and use them in Maschine 2.

Maschine 1 projects that use the Kore plugin, will get an error - can't load plugin.

    Hi folks,

Has anyone tried using something like VSTHost for this. I would assume that if there is a "dock" app, then that would be scanned into Maschine's .dll lib and then it doesn't matter what is loaded into that. Just curious, I'm not even sure if that particular product actually loads as a VST itself, but I'm sure there probably is something somewhere :)

    Cheers

UPDATE: This method looks like it will work :) However those of you who have a library of tunes with Kore2 instruments in them obviously can't go this way. It may be worthwhile to hold off on upgrading until your archive is in order.

It sounds like Maschine will still load in Kore? Lol. It would be useless sabotage since it won't matter to Kore owners who didn't get Maschine. They're just burning a bridge that many of us haven't crossed :)

I feel sorry for the customers that love using Kore in Maschine. For me Kore's library is still essential so it's just another reason not to get Maschine.

    Lol :)

Why does Kore 2 only fail during plugin scan?

Is NI will do something to get kore2 in Maschine2 ? Keir ?
I think don't get Maschine 2 just for this
GR5-Traktor12 (one of the top effects for electronic&dj's music) is really really better in Kore oh Sh1T
Programmed obsolescence ? I'm not for the conspiracy theory but.... :(
