    Dear Kymeia,
I wanted to create a new thread for old and new Kore users who want to install this incredibly useful and versatile piece of kit to new computers running Windows 10 and to thank you for everything you and others have done over the years to keep the Kore platform alive and healthy.

I am installing, per your instructions, KORE 2.1.4, all Kore sounds, and the entire Suite of Kore Soundpacks along with Komplete 10 to a new i7 laptop running Windows 10. I am hoping that you can post a guide for Installing Kore along with Komplete10 on a Windows10 device here for the benefit of all those who are just discovering, or rediscovering, this amazing device. I will document my own installation experience and post here anything that seems useful.

If anything, Kore seems to be as vital as ever, increasingly capable (given the increasing range of user designed templates for third party synths), and still central to many people's work flow. Kore’s gradual rise from the ashes to the sort of boutique sound design platform status it seems to be increasingly enjoying today has been largely due to your level-headed efforts and those of other Kore group contributors. Many thanks to all for keeping Kore alive.

Hi thanks for your feedback, I hope others will chip in too since it's a while since I installed Kore and I may be missing a few things, it's been working so well I haven't needed to. Since you are starting from Komplete 7 I would suggest firstly you need to install Komplete 7 and Kore 2. Then there is an addon pack that contains Koresounds for all the Komplete 7 plugins - you can read about it here:

    https://www.native-instruments.com/...-on-is-available-on-the-download-page.118865/

just download from your user area and install after installing Komplete.

Once that is done update to Komplete 10. I’m afraid there are some things that we don’t have KSDs for in Komplete 10 but most of what is in Komplete 9 we do - I collected all that together here:

    https://www.native-instruments.com/forum/threads/komplete-9-kore-rescue-kit.195717/

what is missing from this is mostly stuff from Komplete 10 Ultimate and third party Kontakt libraries that I don’t have. However some of those do have compatibility with Komplete Kontrol (NKS) and these days I am running both together, KK fills in the gaps that Kore no longer covers. I did make a bunch of Koresounds for Komplete Kontrol NKS instruments though as I use KK inside Kore so I can control it with the hardware - those are here:

    http://fingermarks.co.uk/music2.htm#Native_Instruments_Kore_templates

and of course many for third party plugins too

One last thing I would suggest is updating the Reaktor engine to the latest version manually - this thread explains how:

    https://www.native-instruments.com/...ents-into-kore-need-help.257886/#post-1398985

Bear in mind after Komplete 7 NI switched from ksd format to various Maschine compatible formats for Massive, Absynth and FM8 so the Kore versions of their patches will only load now in the VST versions if you don't have the box checked in options to load the most recent version of 'engine' plugins. Also bear in mind I'm on Mac so have no idea about Windows 10 compatibility.

Welcome Sengge! Are you really familiar with Kore but new on the forum?

Kymeia's got your back, he's great lol.

Also important: don't update Absynth beyond 5.1.1, you won't be able to save Absynth presets in Kore.

    Thank you so much Nielsdolleslager!
I have been following your posts for the last 6 years or so as well and I have to thank you for your continued patience and support of the community of Kore users, new and old.

I started out with Komplete 3 and kept up to date with ALL NI wares, hard and soft, up to and including Maschine. I wish that I could claim expertise with Kore but the learning curve for real mastery of any of this gear is steep. Fortunately, its a great climb and the view is spectacular from every level, bottom to top.

For me sound is a simple sanctuary and solitary software exploration sort of levels out all the rough spots at the end of the day. I am able to help out with the occasional local university filmmaker but that is owing entirely to the skills of the designers at Heavyocity, Wide Blue Sound, Output, etc. I have, when needed, used all this gear in my "urban" school where a kid in crisis can put on the headset, press a few buttons, and for a little while join the Gods. For a little while at least.

I spent a lot of time comfortably lost in Kore. When they announced its "end" I made sure to gather up every soundpack available. It was like the global seed bank at Svarlbard and, at the end of the world, well... at least i could go out morphing Absynth Twighlights! But rumors of Kore's demise seem to have been premature. After all of the wailing and gnashing of teeth, the bitter finger pointing and blame, the tears seemed to have dried and we're all still here! Kore has morphed, phoenix-like, into a pretty badassed little boutique instrument and I am intent on helping keep it alive.

So, I think my role is not offering my expertise, but my ignorance! If there is a mistake to be made I will make it. If there is some confusion, yup, that's me. I really want to see a clear document evolve that would serve a person who has found Kore in a garage sale or a pawn shop and decided to make sense of it. I have seen these folks appear on the forums again and again over the years and I learn from THEIR questions and YOUR answers (and Kymeia's of course!).

In FACT, I was just sitting down and installing Absynth 5.1.1 and I checked into this thread to see if anyone had responded and low and behold here's Nielsdolleslager and he and Kymeia are talking about the very thing that I have been thinking about all day!. Holy ****!

The Concise Lazarus Guide to Kore. Thats what we need. There are a lot of different "Use Case Scenarios" such as djwaxxy's above. Ideally we can anticipate them all. I will document my own process as I can and share what seems useful.

My students will tell you I talk waaaaaaaayyyyy to much. They arent wrong. Its really nice to meet you and make this connection with the group.

Anyone who has read this far and feels the call to Kore I HIGHLY recommend that you navigate to Kymeia's site (http://fingermarks.co.uk/music2.htm) and support this process as you are able. There is a tremendous amount of very selfless effort involved.

    now where's that Absynth .....

SO, to djwaxxy's question... If I understand Kymeia properly, I believe you need to install Komplete 7 before any other KMPLT install in order for Kore to do its thing, and access its KSD files properly. That may require uninstalling KMPLT 8-10 and doing a clean install of KMPLT7, kore, and the addons pack. Im not sure the addons will work without a full K7. I will be curious to hear a final verdict as many people will be in the same situation.

No you don't need to uninstall anything - don't worry about that. I suggested starting with K7 and then installing the KSD pack because I knew you had that, K7 was the last Komplete version that had full integration with Kore so it would make sense to start from that (if you have it) if installing from scratch as a baseline to ensure everything is working OK before progressing to installing later versions. But if you already have later versions installed then I wouldn't suggest uninstalling them, much of the addon pack will still work but it will require using the older engine versions of plugins (inside Kore at least - Mac users like myself benefit from having AU versions that can run the latest version independently of Kore's engine and Windows users may also install the updates if they want, just keep the box unchecked to use latest versions in Kore options) and not updating Absynth. What the ksd pack won't do is add support for later stuff including the many Kontakt libraries NI and partners brought out in recent years, and also later versions of plugins like Kontakt 5 will need the updated KSDs we made in the community (see first post). Amazingly Reaktor 6 still works well with Kore 2 and you can import snapshots into it with no problems.

Thank you Kymeia, Yes, its an install to a "tabula rasa" machine. A blank slate running windows 10. I did begin with a full install of KMPLT 7 followed by KORE 2.1.4. and tested it out. Perfect. I am just beginning the install of KMPLT 10. I would advise anyone who is doing this that if you download KMPLT 10 from your user page you are given the options Download Only, and Download and Install. Select Download only to bypass the Absynth update and manually update Absynth to 5.1.1 from the NI updates page. It is great to know that I can simply install Reaktor 6. I am looking forward to playing with Blocks!

You will need Reaktor 5 still for koresounds made using Reaktor (and do the engine swap using the latest R5 version, not R6)

I'm prepping the install of a new system (first in 5 or 6 years), and I have found the information in this thread very useful, especially the first post by Kymeia - so a big thank you. Transferring the Kore database and getting everything working is not the simplest of procedures.

I bought kore when it first came out and it never quite fit into how i played music. I thought it was a great concept but i found the plugin version always crashed in Ableton live which is my main host. I haven't played music for a number of years and recently decided to rebuild my music setup.I had moved onto maschine 1 when that came out so set that up since i used to use it quite a lot. While installing and adding gear to my setup it occurred to me i still had my Kore in a box on a shelf...I then started to haunt these forums to first see if it would still work on my mac and what i needed to do to get it running again. I haven't installed any of the komplete packages yet and i just ordered my upgrade to 11. My last version was 8. I've gleaned from this thread it would be best to start my insane installs with Komplete 7 (I've been buying it since 2 i believe). So far I've gotten my Kore to work (even though I'm finding it's having conflicts and hanging at startup with other usb gear ,so i have to turn everything off before booting up the kore) I'm hoping all of this effort is worth it since it took me most of the day to figure this out. lol. To be continued!
