I'm finding this too - for anything that I've set a custom path for (e.g. Battery 2) I have to search for the samples everytime I load a sound - its a pain. I've set the folder in options so it should search from there even if it is not the default path.

I can find them manually though - they are there - just KORE looks in the wrong place. I wonder if the path is set in the KSD and ignores any custom paths.

I have Komplete 3 and Kore finds all libraries (custom paths)
but can't fin Kompakt and Intakt libraries..
All libraries are on the same hard disk (in my case G:\)
There may be a problem during Kore installation.

Please make sure that you use the updates plugins from the kore installer. The problem with the not found samples usally occure if you use older versions of our sample line products instead the version that are delivered with kore.

    Best,
    Steffen (NI)

How do you ensure that you are using the correct version (installed with Kore)? I have installed most of my NI libraries on another volume and these programs have all been setup to use these "alternate folders" and previous it has not been a problem (before using/installing KORE).

Please correct me if I am wrong, but it was my impression that installing KORE would also update the NI products in my KOMPLETE3 bundle to the correct version (needed by KORE). After having installed KORE I have not tried to revert back to older versions in any way or form !?

    Hi
I found out how to solve the problem (in my case).
When (re-)installing Kore I put all NI vst plugins in
the Root Vstplugins Folder (normally I have all NI plugs in
    SubFolders eg.Sampler->Kontakt2,Kompakt etc).
This time all plugins were updated and Kore fiound all
    my libraries :)
I moved those plugins back in their original Folder and now everything works fine.
It seems that the Kore Installer doesn't scan all
Vstplugin Subfolders when searching NI plugs.

    Thanx Kurzwave,

I am currently running the installation again and I am sure that it will fix my problem. Actually the installer (while installing KORE) explicitly state that it will only replace the NI (VST) DLLs in the default VST folder and you actually has the option to pick another folder if you (like both you and me) had choosen to place your NI VSTs in another folder (better learn to pay more attention to those installation forms <G>)

The problem is that I have arranged my plugins by type
(Piano-Sampler-Vintage etc) so my NI plugs were in many
different Sub Folders.I thought that the Kore installer
would scan all Sub Folders automatically as it scans for
    all installed plugins at startup.

I am using the updated versions - its only hapening with Battery 2 - I have Battery using a larger samples folder than just the Battery 2 folder as it also contains some other drum samples I have in battery and Kontakt format.

I had the same problem (running Logic Pro 7.2.1) until I sat down and really worked out what was going on.

I think a big point of confusion centers around the fact that NI says you must authorize Kore before you authorize Komplete in order for you to get the hoity toity upgrades shipped to you etc. Dont' let the authorization steps confuse you-- the installation steps must be completed in a far different order.

The proper way to go about things especially if running an Audio Units host is:

    1. Install Komplete 3
    2. Insert Original Kore CD and do a Custom Install of Kore (EXCLUDING Audio Units as an option)
    3. Go to NI Service Center and download and apply all applicable updates for Komplete 3 instruments and the Kore 1.0.1 update
    4. Authorize Kore (BEFORE YOU AUTHORIZE KOMPLETE)
    5. Authorize Komplete
    6. Install the Kore 1.0.1 update (ENSURE AUDIO UNITS AND LIBRARY ARE SELECTED)
    7. Run the standalone version of Kore and test Intakt, Kompakt2, etc sounds.
    8. At this point you may still have problems with opening Kompakt2, Intakt, Elek Piano sounds, try a custom install within the 1.0.1 updater-- select Library and follow through with the upgrade.

Following these steps should allow Kore to apply its updates to the instruments in order to Kore-ify them (these updates ARE NOT available in NI Service Center) to fully patched versions of the instruments and libraries. It is VERY important you update the Komplete instruments before fiddling about with Kore. NI released a very cryptic version listing for Kore-compatibility for each of its instruments and as far as I can tell one cannot upgrade to these software levels from within the Service Center.

This should help you avoid the same pitfalls I had during installation.

If you continue having problems with the libraries, ensure that the paths are set properly from within the standalone versions of each problematic instrument. If you are still having problems, re-install Kore. Hopefully you won't get to that frustrating point.

This can all be very frustrating but in no time you should have a "fully" functional, yet nonetheless buggy Kore system.

I personally can't wait until software v1.1 is released because NI ----- the bugs are for your QA staff to find----- NOT your hard-working user base. I personally, have lost 3 days of productivity trying to figure out this mess.

This post by Damien needs to be reposted (after an enhancement about the latest Kontakt 2.1.1 update and any others) and stickied as the way to do the install.

I personally ended up doing basically what Damien said after several false starts. Unfortunately, I can't get it to see the Kontakt library, although everything else works. I am assuming that's related to the Kontakt 2.1.1 update somehow.

My Christmas Wish is that I can get some clear instructions on how fix the problem with not finding samples. I'm happy to reinstall if need, but does that mean going back to the original distribution CD? Sounds a little intimidating.

I'm a little confused by the "use the updates plugins from the kore installer" statement. Are these "updates" available from the support website (Intakt doesn't seem to have any updates since 2004) or do I have to get them by re-installing?

If I have to reinstall, what exactly do I have to reinstall? Do I need to uninstall everything and start over? Many things (including Kontakt) are working fine. As far as I can tell it's Intakt, Kompakt, Battery 2 that have this problem.

Bottom line, I'm not whining and I'm happy to do whatever. Of course, I'd prefer the simplest approach available! :)

Make my Christmas bright! My goal is to have everything working by New Years so I get get started on my resolution to actually record something.

    Thanks,

    Joel

You don't need to reinstall anything.

Run all the instruments in STANDALONE. Set the path to the libraries in the options menu for each instrument. I've found that with Kontakt, it helps to rebuild your quickload database as well. Use the custom folder option to populate the database as far as Kontakt goes (options- it's under the search/DB tab).

NOW, start KORE in standalone. Rescan your plugins and rebuild your database. I suggest closing the progress window when the database starts to rebuild and select rebuild in background. It will take a while (my machine takes close to an hour and a half), and it will prompt you if you attempt to exit KORE before the rebuild's done. Let it finish. Done.

Thanks for the prompt response. To keep things simple, I'll just focus on Intakt as an example.

In Intakt, which works fine standalone, my library path is, and always has been, set to:
    d:\sample libraries\native instruments\intakt library\

I rescanned my plugins. The directory is set to:
    c:\program files\steinberg\cubase sx 3\vstplugins\

I rebuilt the database, closed an reopened Kore. When I try to load an Intakt instrument like say Atmosloop 1 I get the message:

    could not find sample
    <IntaktLib_part2.nks>\FX\Atmospheric (noloops notempo)\Atmosloop 002.wav
find it automatically or load it manually?

    Am I missing a step?

    Thanks for your assistance.

I think I see your problem...

The default path is Native Instruments/Sample Libraries, and NOT the other way around; I'm thinking it wants to see it in that order. Best thing to do (if that's actually the way you have it set up) is to create a folder called Native Instruments. Create a subfolder called Sample Libraries. Move your libraries to that subfolder and delete the old folders.

Now, start them up in standalone again and set the paths. Reboot, and start KORE. Rescan and rebuild...

    See if that fixes it...

No, that didn't fix it. And does that really make sense? Doesn't the default path just tell Kore where to find the IntaktLib_part1.nks and IntaktLib_part2.nks files? I'm assuming that <IntaktLib_part1.nks> is just a 'variable' combining the path and the nks name. I will keep playing with it, if you have any other ideas by all means...

Question: What does rescanning the plugins actually do? I assumed it was just so that Kore knew which plugins you had. What's the connection between doing that and the libaries?

I work in software QA, so naturally this is driving me nuts, :) but it's also an interesting mystery.

No, it's also telling KORE where the instrument definitions are.

Scanning doesn't just enumerate your plugins; it also sets paths to any external libraries the plugin might use. That's why it's important to make sure that the standalone's library paths are set correctly; the plugin uses the paths set there.
