kore player is free, it's not a part of anything, really. i guess you need it for acoustic refractions, but i doubt jereminstrument bought komplete for that purpose.

Yes, I was meaning Kore 2 player. But this does not resolve the fact I can't buy anymore Kore soundpacks... and my E-Voucher... nearly serve to nothing now, when I see what kind of product I could buy with it.

There's a possibility that NI will soundpacks available again? Perhaps a time-limited release?

I hate to say this but in my opinion this is starting to become rather pathetic.
We were in our full right to fight against NI's descision to discontinue Kore and especialy the way they handelled it. Now I see some people becomming afraid of future descissions. Stick with Kore or do something else. As strong as the response was in the beginning now I believe it is becomming childish. Sorry guys, there are enough alternatives. Let's stick with the response whereby NI was bound to reconsider...

Well yes it does look pathetic.

Some will take whatever they can get and say "thank you" for the scraps. Others will refuse to play that game and move on, regardless of what's offered and regardless of future products or features.

Both are valid responses, considering what has happened these last couple of weeks.

A third group will analyze the situation on a case-by-case and need-by-need basis and pick and choose what suits them for each given situation. I plan to be in this third group, even if I am the only one.

Luckily for me this is a hobby and I don't play gigs and don't see a need for Kore on stage. If I did play gigs, I'd prefer to play a fully self-contained synth or a horn or string instrument anyhow. If I had a great Kore part that I wanted to replicate on stage, I'd find a different way to do that, like maybe playing a guitar or violin with some creative effects not driven by Kore or Guitar Rig.

It's not appealing to me, the thought of lugging around a laptop in addition to a keyboard. Too many things that can grow legs or get damaged or misplaced.

Stage or not, I can see a need to eventually shop around right now for one or two backup Kore hardware units. I might still do that, especially if I find that Kore 2 will work with Windows 8 and/or Komplete 8 because that would mean that my licensed software might be good for another 8 to 10 years without having to stand up an additional computer and be forced to maintain it at legacy software levels.

Like I say, it's a case-by-case issue. Depending on my needs and forward vision, I might decide that it would be worthwhile to invest in a backup unit for that length of time.

But I still can't bring myself to say "thank you" to anybody from NI. I'm waiting for word of the "reconsiderment" before I will go that far.

It seems like NI might try to squeeze as much money as they can out of Maschine 1.7+ and the crossgrades and then I would not be surprised to see them immediately introduce 2.0 in the spring...

Would you want to be someone who owned Kore, crossgraded to 1.7 and then immediately found out about 2.0? I certainly have had enough of that business model to last me a lifetime, no thanks NI...

I am not ready to say "thank you" either. NI should come to their senses, is it not?
For me it is not about the soundpacks I was going to miss. NI was recommended to me and I was totally impressed with what they made. The way they showed themselves with the Kore debacle was even clearer. I think that in this thread the stress should be on this. I really appreciate that they are changing their descissions but what about their initial approach. People here have shown that for them as 1 st hour supporters/contributors/users etc. this was unacceptable. I am very curious about NI's final word. But even more about NI's future. For me this is what this thread is about. That is my final word I believe... ( so I hope hope NI will take care and come out better then they are at this moment).

Updating hardware designs costs a lot of money from conception to production. I don't think NI will update the h/w unless its absolutely necessary. Also, they have learnt a lot from kore and probably made a good attempt to get what they want first time.

I would be suprised to see a hardware upgrade anytime soon, there may be a Maschine 2, but more likely that will be s/w enhancement

    Negotiations...

+1 It was - and still is - most important to keep the pressure on NI so that they make some serious concessions here...There are enough of us who have real grievances with the way this was decision was "implemented"...We need to make sure that NI understand that they cannot make a unilateral decision without there being serious ramifications...

Who did receive a copy of the Kore survey that they said was sent out ? Mmmm

I believe that it was always necessary to go in hard here and make sure that NI understood that we all have a voice and that we demand to be heard...This one post alone is testament to that....We're getting close to 1k here with nearly 38,000 views..

It is "refreshing" to see a more determined attitude from some of the people here who were initially begging for a few scraps from the table, because that attitude was never really going to get NI to the negotiating table...They needed to be threatened with a much bigger stick than that to get them to sit up and listen !

We want a three course meal with all the trimmings - not just some dried biscuits and a glass of tap water...

Collective bargaining has it's advantages,so let's not ease off the pedal too much here...Although things are a little more "civilised" now,the fat lady hasn't sung and we all want to hear what she's got in her repetoire this time around...

If she's singing the same old corporate lines with as much enthusiasm as a dead pigeon, then we may have to move on and find new inspiration...

Life's too short to wait around for the fat lady to sing :)

I still want NI to win me back as a customer, I love their stuff too much. I want have some trust in them and most of all, I want to enjoy using NI products again.

I dont know what playing 'hardball' will achieve. Dont know what 'begging for scraps' will do...

Thing is, they have told us there will be a couple of updates and everything else has been 'We'll get back to you.'

We still know exactly the same as the day the announcement was made - very little!

I think there HAS been some movement in the right direction. It's 'wait and see' game for a few days now.

I very much agree with what dave says. I too WANT to be won back. I use a lot of NI stuff and I love it but a lot of that love has been squandered over what was done to Kore and the way that it was done. I'm certainly NOT going to stamp my foot and say 'never again' but, on the other hand, I really DO need to be persuaded to risk further cash (as, becuase of the Kore business, I really DO see it as a risk).

It's a pretty nice restaurant. Personnaly I don't believe we all want 3 course meals with the trimmings. But they should serve what was on the menu and we appreciate appropiate and kind service. Just stating that and also not begging for scraps should be enough.
I agree with you Dave about the uncertainty, that is why I would like to see this thread stable and not wonder around at this stage.

They have done it multiple times already. Kore controllers, Audio Kontrol, Traktor hardware. They will have no problems releasing a new hardware device and charging full retail the moment 1.7 sales dip... I don't have a problem with that as a business practice, I'm just saying be careful you don't get burned twice as a consumer.

I even saw an NI drawbar organ controller on ebay the other day: http://bit.ly/lehjdc

It's their prerogative as a company, but it's clear that they have a shorter-term vision than a lot of other companies. Just keep that in mind when you break out your wallet :)

    Nice Menu

Yes..I agree...It's a nice restaurant and we have all been eating here for years - but it's just been taken over by new management and some of our favourite dishes have been wiped from the menu...

If people just ask for a soundpack or two, then they will get SFA - but if they stand up as one voice and asked for some real respect and consideration, then the outcome has the potential to be a little more favourable....

Now NI understands that this unilateral action has had a serious impact on their trade mark value and it's going to be reflected in the company's bottom line..

That puts us in a much stronger negotiating position - - so there's no need for us to beg :)

On a separate note - or beat - here's another Maschine thread from across the fence...

"What's the very long-term support plan for Maschine?" Mmmm... Sounds like a popular topic..

    http://www.native-instruments.com/forum_de/showthread.php?t=138509

Am I mistaken,or were we all assured that NI also had a long road map planned for Kore ? Mmmm

At the risk of wandering around for a moment, this thread is 54 pages long. Had there not been a degree of 'wandering' then tedium would have set in at page three and no-one would have read beyond page four. Wandering around allows exploration of (in this case) a complex situation from a number of angles. Wandering around has also added a touch of humour where anger might have errupted. We are not in a classroom, we are grownups and (with one noteable exception) we will all have a slightly different focus on this matter. One person's needless frippery might be another's raison d'etre; one person's 'only a few dollars/pounds' might be another person's life savings.

Without wandering around we might miss a very important point.

+1 This has been a very dynamic thread ...entertaining and informative too...

Well - not too much information from NI at this stage - but we're eagarly awaiting to hear just what the fat lady is going to sing :)

She's already tentatively changed a couple of the "set pieces" because we have heard all of those before and we don't want the auto-tuned corporate lines anymore..They just don't cut it...

No no...We want something that's sincere and heartfelt this time around :)
