Wow, this thread is still going!

Seen all the jobs NI has posted on their careers @ NI page? Interesting. I've been wondering if there was a shakeup behind the scenes.

And, holy crap, no more flash? Yeah! (at least not on iPhone; jeeze it took 'em long enough to make the site usable on iOS) Maybe they're trying after all. Maybe. Give Reaktor User Lib a good overhaul & I'll maybe believe it.

As for Kore & Mashine... Meh. Same old situation as last time I checked.

People keep the dream alive :)

The info I've seen is that they've simply moved some people to more focused positions, and getting more people to fill now available positions. So nothing worrisome that I can see. I think one employee was moved to only oversee Maschine development, for instance, rather than managing every product.

Hell yeah! But yes, only iOS. Unfortunately changing the user agent for my browser doesn't seem to avoid the Flash or even give me an alternative if I disable Flash :/

Snap. I really need the deep frequency soundbank as i've just started using my MAC for uni and dont have the setup files for mac even though my project uses the effects from that. :(

Can we access the old soundbanks anywhere now? I can't see a reason to remove old content even if the product is discontinued.

I remember reading before that the creator of the Deep series was looking to release these packages again as he wasn't happy with NI's discontinuation.
Though I've yet TI confirm this as anything more than forum threads.

I just don't get this aspect of Kore's d/c - they (NI) stated that the third party licenses meant that the products could no longer be sold on their site - yet NI held the exclusivity on Kore pack sales and those packs don't,seem to be sold anywhere else.

One of of the Deep packs is in the Electronic Experience pack but, I think, it's Transformations.

I would recommend keeping an eye out on forums for people selling their Kore packs - though I'm not sure where NI sit with transferring download licenses so you might want to be careful with that.
    ---
Curious though, if you never had it before, did you get the parts you used from one, or more, of the free compilations?

Not sure regarding the comp's but any packs you've previously registered are available to download from your account

I would hope they all reappear as Kontakt 5 packs at least. 8DIO speak well of the capabilities in the new engine, and I'm sure there are bits of Kore in there.

@Ronny, the Deep series were made up of Reaktor and Kore's internal effects iirc?

This is ****ing awful customer service from NI. What harm would it do to simply have links to purchase old soundbanks? Their servers could handle that amount of data just as well as chuck norris could handle the virginity of the virgin islands.

Sure the product might have been discontinued but a hell of a lot of people rely on these banks for their work and livlihood. I'm still happy to pay, but I dont even have the option to!
    ---
Also being a kore 2 user I missed out on all the free soundbanks they had to offer for a short while when they discontinued kore. Why give a few months only for Kore 2 users to download the free soundbanks? I was on holiday when the offer was available, now its gone, and im stuck with a redundant synth, that has awesome soundbanks that I need, that I can't even access anymore
    ---
Is there a customer complaint form I can use in anyway rather than ranting in forum posts?

Yeah, I think so. It looks like Kontakt 5 has a bit of every engine, including compressors and Transient Master, so they might have stripped Kore for all it's worth and built a frankenengine underneath the hood ;)

I have that problem frequently with all sorts of software :/

Their viewpoint: They don't want to sell old software, because it implies there is support. Yes, they have a point, sort of; there are eedjits in every community who are a burden to tech support. Personally I don't think those sort of people should be anywhere near computers, and I feel for the support personnel.

The other viewpoint: It's an add-on for software which works on current operating systems, the next OS upgrade (both Mountain Lion and Win8 are still near enough that it'll work, and Windows typically has many years of backwards compatibility). Why not keep selling it, with a disclaimer?

I'm pretty sure I've seen that in many online software stores in the field of music. Some even have a cheap/free v1 of a product now up to a v2.

Yeah, why couldn't the packs be activated for all current Kore owners?

Seeing how their system for retrieving previously bought products doesn't actually exist for some products (no idea where to download some of my packs if I lose them, others have updates which are full installers, and some have updaters which require the initial installer) I guess it's a technical issue.

Wait, what? Redundant: exceeding what is necessary or normal? Sure. Redundant: characterised by similarity or repetition? You're using it wrong!

Send a friendly message to Keir if you can't find a contact form under the Support menu at the top. Then send a slightly less friendly message through that.

Well folks it's been real. I'm 100% Kore2 free now and have found some wonderful alternatives for production and live performance; none of which are NI products.
The only NI product I'm using at this point is Reaktor which I will continue to use and even upgrade until NI discontinues support... which is inevitable given the direction NI is headed.

Providing your Kore packs were legit and registered to you then they are available to download from your registered products section of the NI site - at least, mine are.

I have its all sorted now, getting the packs I need asap apparently. :D

I still dont see why we can not have access to all the old soundbanks even if the product is discontinued. That would surely keep a lot of the people that have been disappointed with the discontinuation happy. I'm not sure how things like this work with developers wanting profit for their work, but for a discontinued product like this NI should maybe pay them a sum of money and offer Kore 2 users the option to have the soundbanks to keep them happy with the product they have been left with.

Intrigued as to what alternatives you've found? (i'm still happily using Kore here).

I would say it's highly unlikely that Reaktor will be be discontinued?

I do wish that NI would do something with it - on one hand, I guess Reaktor has hit a panacea with Reaktor so that has slowed down development; this begs the question as to why NI aren't pushing third-parties to bring crazy new ensembles to market.
On the other, Cycling'74 have had huge success with Max and M4L which seems to have taken a lot of Reaktors shine away.

I guess a mark of success is the number of people using your product and the potential market for third parties to produce content for it (return on investment), NI have a long history of scrapping products dead so I can see why new-comers (and old) would be hesitant to invest time into something that could be scrapped any-time.

Bottom-line is NI HAVE to communicate with its audience more; innovation isn't just in the new, shiny toys on the shelf but in the way a business acts.

we were told "3rd party devs" blah blah blah.. and it was either buy it within 3 weeks or get scr*wed.. so thats the double shafting from NI.. There was no need to stop selling the extra items and forcing us to buy them.

they forget who spent money on their products! when they discontinued it , I didn't have the funds.. but since then I did , and spent it elsewhere.

so on behalf of fxpansion , psp, steinberg , cakewalk , izotope, fab filter, waldorf , d16 and more .. thanks for the sales ;)

NI should be renamed to "not interested" that's the sad fact. I sadly expected far better of NI

if I ever get asked what I use equipment list wise, I won't be giving any publicity to NI... and one of my friends who will remain nameless is shown as one of their "artists" ..

The Kore user tab "Mostly Musicians" has gone from the "Community" drop down menu.

There's a Maschine one there now instead - "Mostly Robot."

I don't really see Maschine as a replacement for my Kore. Not enough knobs for virtual parameter tweaking and the preset morphing is gone now, right?

I don't see how anybody could think Maschine is a replacement for Kore. It's just a beat box that loads NI plugins.

Kore was way kooler, too bad not enough people understood or took advantage of it.
