    You're right.

Also too bad that NI didn't know enough to market it properly. And to write a decent manual so that more people COULD have understood it. Or that NI was taken over by a couple of DJs who are only interested pretty DJ kit with flashing lights (never mind that it doesn't do half the things that even the users want). Kore wasn't a failure. NI failed Kore and the Kore community.

    Same felling

Kore is "dj tool" too is user wants

Kore has groups , midi players and is as live capable than maschine.
This is more a marketing story.

Kore navigation is a must imo.

But automations and midi&audio recording make a difference. the midi seq of maschine is not a **** .his simplicity
makes difference compared to other complicated host with the time.

Construct a song with maschine was very delicate for me .it needed more time than any other tool.

At this time maschine is not a replacement of kore

Please NI don't give up kore users who have maschine !

We don't give up the koresound packs or third party ,we have two controllers ,we love autowrite step and realtime,we have a monocore app .....

I still use Kore more often than Maschine.
Maschine can never replace Kore, as Kore was an amazing workstation for studio and live use where you could set up your performances, added with sequences, arpeggiators, all kind of effects, stack sounds, and and and. It was that, a workstation.

Maschine can't be used for these tasks, for me it's just a toy.

I too use Kore much more than Maschine. Maschine is good for what it does in it's own right...but not even close as a substitute.

All we can do at this point is use and enjoy Kore for a few more years until it becomes unpractical. But will it? Perhaps run Kore on a separate machine for older VST's?

On a side note...I am still using MOTU Unisyn on a Windows 98 PC for the sole purpose of editing many old rack synthesizers and maintaining a huge library I spent weeks...even months tagging sounds. This is old technology with no current replacements.

Thank goodness soon I think I will be able to clone Windows 98 inside Windows 7 and use the Windows 98 midi out... It's being worked on at this moment, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

    I couldn't agree more.
    ---
I had fully intended to keep a spare system for Kore. At one time I calmly accepted what was going to happen, but then reality kicked in. If one has a separate system then many plugins will have to be duplicated otherwise they are available to the Kore system but NOT to the other (or vice versa). It's no longer a route I propose to go down. I thought Zen was going to be a replacement but, sadly, there seem to be little development going on there. I still have little or no respect for NI over this business. There have been time when I've thought about buying (the Strings pack being the latest) but I simply can NOT spend money with them, knowing that they are happy to dump products with no compunction. I VERY NEARLY bought Maschine (just to play with) but this worry stopped me.

Just get Vienna Ensemble Pro, it'll allow you to use new software on a new computer in Kore on an old computer (win or mac) and allow you to load Kore in future DAWS from the old computer, all via LAN :)

I've recently purchased VEP too and have a slave Mac Pro connected to my MBP (via LAN/Ethernet).

Mainly bought it to offload third party plugins in Ableton Live that munch too much CPU, which it seems to help with.

An interesting discovery though is that you can run Kore on both computers at the same time (I have two controllers and was delighted to be able to run them both in tandem).

One drawback to using VEP is you do lose the immediacy of Automating your hosted plugins... it is possible to assign parameters for plugins within VEP that are recognized within Live, just fiddly to setup.

As an aside, does anyone know if you can use Kore's midi sequencer to record (or playback) automation data?

    2 Kores with 2 controllers, cool :)
As far as I know Kore can't record midi. I guess you can import midi files with automation data into the midi player, did you try that?

I'll have to see if I can record some Kore automation directly into Live and then import it into Kore... haven't tried it yet!

Luckily I had a spare long usb cable to line up the two controllers... my desk though, it's like the Millennium Falcon! :)

cc's work in the midi file player but can't record , it is not a sequencer
you must assign cc's before to your plug and reassign to the same plug in kore

...I really love to use Kore as an FX Rack with its extensive routing options. I would have loved to see it having modifiers like Guitar Rig, but anyway - whenever I use it I can't believe NI dropped it!

Anyone willing to speculate on the recent price drop of Maschine?
Is the next hardware controller in the works?

maybe or like every other pro audio company are feeling the pinch economically

as a german company, and a few more major player, their end user "care" stinks to a point where I go elsewhere to buy products IF I can..

hear that NI ? "not interested" ...

they used to be innovative.. but now, well it's just boring sound packs I don't want and I doubt I'm the only one.

No. You're not the only one. I very much doubt they'll ever get another penny off me.
