I just bought the Kore 2 controller on a bit of an impulse on ebay.
It was cheap and looks like a solid bit of hardware.
But the Kore Library licence isn't included.

Is it possible to remap the controller without owning the sound sets?
Do I need a license for the controller editor?
And are all buttons / controls mappable?

The controller will work in MIDI mode. It's kind of finiky though. Not sure about the controller editor. Get it and see.

I've mapped most of the controller in Sonar thanks to "subtlearts" on the Sonar forums. Here's the thread on that:

    It also supports Mackie mode.

You can install the NI controller editor application which has some ready-made maps for use with popular DAWs and certain plug-ins - I think there are a number of mapping templates in the Kore forums and, most likely, available with a quick web-search.

Most of those are for specific plug-ins for use inside of Kore and NOT the midi side of the controller.

One cool thing about the Kore 2 controller is that you can switch between controlling the Kore 2 software and your midi setup with the push of the "Control" button. But it can't do both at the same time.

Thanks! The controller editor looks openly available too. Seems all good.
Except the 'finicky' part. Hope it's not too bad...

I don't think it's particularly difficult - it'll be mapped the way you want it thus making the entire process a labour of love :)

For sure. I did have the controller running the Sonar transport which was cool. I was using the ACT protocol as in the post above.
