Just got KORE yesterday. The installer fails and reports:

"An unexpected error occured while installing "KORE". 1008:17,-9"

    A second error message reports:

"An error occured that prevents the installation from completing."

It seems to be the AudioUnits segment of the install that is failing.

I've tried it on 3 different Macs, and get the same message. The DVD won't even mount on my MacBook Pro.

I can't log in to the main part of the website to check for protected updates and would appreciate hearing from someone at NI.

Same here, unfortunately. Unlike bracky, however, I was not able to install the Audio Unit version. So I am unable to run this. Please tell me this isn't another protracted wait for a fix/answer.

    Greetings,

This is Sariah Sizemore, U.S Customer Support Manager chiming in. I want to let you know that we are aware of the Kore installer issue. In order to install Kore, please do a custom install and deselect audio units in the list. This will allow you to install Kore properly. Next, you want to visit the updates page on the NI web site and download the installer hotfix for Kore for MAC. This will allow you to successfully install the audio units.

To receive a replacement disk, please contact U.S Tech Support. We will take your name and address and have replacement disks sent out to you asap.

    Best,
    Sariah

    Hi Sariah,
I don't want to register KORE until I know if I want to keep it or not. How do I download the update since it's not available as an unprotected update?

    Thanks,
    Vincent

    Sariah,

I looked for the installer update, can't seem to find it. Can you please post a direct link.

    Thanks

It appears to be available in the Service Center's Update Manager. Basically, do a custom install Kore minus the Audio Units. Then run Service Center to activate Kore, etc. The Update Manager will then kickoff and offer a list of update downloads. Kore 1.0.1 Update & Kore Audio Units Installation Hotfix will be among them.

Got it. Guess the Mac version didn't get some of the audio driver features of the Windows version... (usb latency adjustment)

Macs uses Core Audio, which is different to windows.

the Kore Controller (which uses USB) has a hardware buffer size, that can be set with the driver in your Mac System Preferences.

then there is the Audio/MIDI settings in Kore itself. the output latency can be set here.

Right, but I guess there's no latency control for when you're just using KORE as a controller without using it as an audio interface....

It is the same control but you select the output device either Kore or something else, such as the built in one for Mac, see picture.

I'm sorry, but we must be talking about two different things. The windows version shows another option, that's not available on the Mac... On the same page in the manual addendum it shows another, different usb latency setting for windows that someone said was only for the latency of the Kore controller when used as a controller, not a sound card.

Is anyone else just about ready to throw Kore out of the window because of this issue? When I access the NI Service Center no such Kore Audio Units update is available.

This is completely unacceptable. Not only does it take a Phd to figure out the activation process but the Kore product does not work out of the box with Logic Pro.

Also, can someone explain that why, after purchasing Komplete 3, a 2005 product I am prompted to download updates which are as old as 2004?

What gives NI? Collectively we should all be ripping your lot of developers and QA staff apart right now. I'm surprised this post has been so tame. It seems like the devoted masses may be used to this type of thing which is a bit disconcerting considering we are the people paying to be your beta testers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated otherwise it looks like I'll be calling support for a new Kore install DVD with a request to reimburse me for the expedited shipping I paid to recieve my original Kore unit.

This is absolutely ridiculous seeing the number of Logic Pro users which comprise this community.

I can understand that from the time the product was packaged and shipped improvements have been made so there's the availability of an update. That's a good thing. We were all in a hurry for KORE to come out.

To my way of thinking, this is the problem:

    1) Since the installer disk that came with early shipments of KORE was defective the buyer is sort of dead in the water. It would be nice if the retailers marked these packages with instructions on how to download the update, or better yet attached a .35 cent cd with the update on it.

    2) When trying new products like these many retailers offer 30 days money back if the software is not registered. The problem is, typically just to download the update to make the product work well enough to even evaluate it, you have to register.... Sort of a catch 22...

    3) Since KORE requires the hardware controller as a dongle (which many of us loath) why can't the KORE software update be in an unprotected area of the website? Nobody's going to be able to run it without have the hardware anyway

Just my opinion, but I found this all to be very frustrating. I can totally understand and welcome a new product needing updates. What I don't understand is why the update process has to be so restrictive to the buyer (especially when the software is protected by a 10 lb. hardware key)

Early adopters seems to pay the price. I had Kore in my hands on May 1, and talk about not knowing what was going on. To their credit, however, tech support latched on to me immediately, though this is not the first time I've done a pre-release and ended up providing solicited feedback to NI. I'm guessing they haven't recieved the updated CDs with new installers as I never recieved the replacement they told me was coming.

Am I to understand that the current shipments still have this older installer CD?

I kan show you posts from the past few years with more love/hate rants about a new NI release than you kould ever want to Know about.

RecordingArts - Your suggestions hits the nail on the head. Just as a matter of principle, there should be a way to download the update without first having to register or install an arguably deficient product. This is especially true until NI kan make good on shipping out the new CDs.

"We're sorry, you kannot download the required update until you first agree to the terms, which is, to install and register the version that we openly admit does not function properly."

If this were a software-only issue, I could understand (sort of). But it's clearly not.

It's also a bit odd (and they confirmed this) that NI timed a major update to Kontakt 2 around the same time as Kore's release, though the Kore installer overwrote the newer K2 with a previous version.

And then there's those incentives to buy Kore...any word on when and where they are?
