KORE owners only? Or Komplete Owners?

I saw that KORE 2 owners get the newsletter and vouchers. Is this with KORE 2 owners only? So those who bought Komplete 7, like myself, won't?

The newsletter is about the discontinuation of KORE 2, a product that doesn't ship with KOMPLETE 7. So it seems logical that only users of KORE 2 get the message and the vouchers (as some sort of compensation) and not the users of KOMPLETE 7.

Thanks for the quick reply. That does make sense. I guess I was thinking of the KORE Player and all of the KORE sounds, and KORE soundpacks that came with Komplete 7, including the few I purchased afterwords. By the discontinuation of KORE 2, doesn't that mean everything KORE related--player, sounds, soundpakcs, etc.-- bundled in Komplete 7 is also discontinued?

Basically NI is moving forward with developing other software/hardware after these last few updates for KORE. As a KORE owner I get it, its unnecessary to keep working on making it better and more useful when they have other products that are already better and more useful (Ex: Maschine). So yea, anything KORE related will cease after this.

This is the kind of remark that guaranteed to piss off Kore USERS. (as opposed to just owners who might not have 'got' its importance) Saying Maschine is better than Kore is like saying that a tank is better than a flower. THEY ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. Maschine developments seems to be going towards a half-hearted aping of of some of Kore features but.......

    Why am I bothering?

I have been reading about this a lot as well. I wasn't happy with the discontinuation of KORE, as I am sure thousands of the KORE users are. I don't quite see how Maschine could be labeled as being better... from what I hear it, and from schrage musik's post, it is completely different. I think Maschine has much further to go. With the purchase of Komplete 7 last year, and now hearing about the discontinuation of KORE, it has left me frustrated. Until something comes which can actually replace what will be lost with the discontinuation of KORE, I'm just not sure I'll buy anything right now. I just don't even know if Komplete 8 will be worth the upgrade...

This is like Mac vs PC.

But Mac and PC are more similar than what I can see of Kore and Maschine.

There will be no end to the madness.

There is no way in hell that a tank is better than a flower.

    I like daisies. :D

It won't be if you own Kore. I'm not getting K8. I feel exactly the same as you do.

LOL not intending to piss anybody off, I use Kore myself and I'm just stating my opinion from personal experience. I havent even got the hang of Maschine yet completely and its already been of more use to me than Kore was. From a controller standpoint Kore is very hands on and useful, but in my HOP Maschine can do a lot of what KORE can and more since it has the ability to do things on top of its main use of drum programming. It can also act as a midi controller for synths, bass lines, etc. & its sampling capabilities are incredible. I think thats why they are moving forward and thats all I was saying. I dont want them to, I like Kore as well, but I get why they are doing what their doing.

Please explain it to us then !

Great...seeing as you 'get it",could you please explain for us in clear and simple terms so that we can understand just exactly why they are doing this..

Because NI are going to feel the impact of this decision on their bottom line for some time to come, most of us are scratching our heads wondering why a company that previously had such a loyal following, would want to make such a dumb decision...

Kore and Komplete were more intrinsically linked - both musically and financially - than Maschine and Komplete are...

I don't see how - Maschine is the Kore of mash-up generation IMO.
There's a whole bunch of hip-hop, mash-up and techno producers falling over themselves to get Maschine and with good reason.

Well, let's not forget that NI are a business. Kore obviously isn't going well for them. Version 2.1.2 and it's dated 2009 - 2-years on and it's knell is rung; that suggests that either a) the work was too slow/difficult to sustain, b) there wasn't enough interest to fix the platform, c) there wasn't enough problems to fix, d) they lost interest, e) other or f) all of the above.

I'll be the first to admit (owning and using both) that the 2 are like chalk & cheese but, I can get Maschine to do a lot of what Kore can do than attempting to get Kore to act like Maschine.

My personal feelings are that I've learned 2 things from this Kore discontinuation:

    1) I'd forgotten how much fun it was to use my Kore system as I'd mentally replaced it with Maschine

    2) As yet, no one from NI has come around to my house, demanded my Kore controller and software - so I am still free to play with Kore on my computer just as the day I bought it.

It's already happening, though. They *will* come for yours, just as they did for mine. :(

Very interesting posts. I've had Maschine for 2 years and use it as an advanced Roland R8 + Akai MPC. Plus as a MIDI interface

However, I just got Kore 2 (with Kore 1 H/W). I really like it as a S/W synth box. Why would I want to use a Maschine for that?

Think NI have made a bit of a blunder here. Also, the Kore 1 H/W gives me another MIDI interface, Audio I/O and phones.

What replaces Kore S/W synth? Nothing I see is worth buying!

Key words are "better and more useful." That is your opinion based on your own experiences correct?

As mentioned above Maschine and Kore are not the same. Maschine did incorporate some of Kores concepts and did a lame job of it. I'm specifically thinking of the Maschine browser.

Kore is very useful to me, and there is nothing to replace it. How useful it becomes to others I think depends on how you use Kore, and if you explore it's depths. Some people just used it as a browser. Others used it only in live shows. Others used it in sound design. And some just were curious knob-tweakers experimenting. The owners manual was horrible. It only gave a description of the functions without any practical applications. The video tutorials..the answers to the practical applications were released too late.

If someone says they can get Maschine to do a lot of what Kore could do...and they actually own both products, then it tells me they didn't explore many of Kores deeper applications. And it tells NI that Kore was perhaps too much of a niche product to continue to support.

Marketing Kore had to be difficult.

Maschine is NI's cash cow. It appeals to a very wide market including casual users. Relative to Kore, it's easy, it's basic, and provides instant gratification with cool beatz and it's found in any local Guitar Center.

Kore was never very sexy, and often relatively complicated. It required more time and commitment.

I would like to think abandonment of Kore has made an adverse impact on NI. But honestly, as large as NI has become, and based on their new product releases, I doubt they ever felt it. They are probably glad to have that millstone around their neck gone for good. James Walker Hall abandoned Kore for Maschine. Stephen Schmidt (NI founder and Reaktor creator and part Kore creator) has left NI.

    Dear noisetwat.

Why don't you bugger off back to toy town. You have no business here. You have no interest in Kore (your posts suggest that you are too stupid to even understand what it's for).

In my time I have been on many forums where exchanges can become - shall we say - 'heated'- I've made many friends from such exchanges, but I have NEVER come across ANYONE as odiously irritating as you. You are simply a fanboy and your presence on a board that does not interest you does nothing more than add the description of 'troll'

I have many strong (and valid) opinions about the Maschine but I'm not allowed to voice them over there. How come your crawling rhetoric is allowed here?

noiserot - I wondered if they'd banned you on here as I hadn't seen you posting for a while (in threads I've read anyway).

I understand that you think you're just informing us about Stephan Schmitt - but your previous posts in this Kore area have made you appear to be a Maschine gloater who has just dropped in to the Kore funeral to heckle us Kore mourners.

Schrage's post may seem harsh to you - but he's just saying what I suspect most of us are thinking.

That being said - thank you for your Schmitt update.

I asked Keir about this guy, he didn't reply. He's on my ignore list again but people who don't can always report him with the little "!" triangle. Has anyone tried that yet? It's clear he's breaking more of the forum rules then any of us.
