I just updated my Kore 2 from the Service Center (so I can play my new Kore Soundpack in Pro Tools).

Now whenever I open Kore as a plugin in Pro Tools it shuts down my Midi interface (DigiDesign 003).

    It says:
Lost communication with the audio interface.
Please try increasinng "H/W Buffer Size" or removing some plug-in, and make sure you have a valid clock source. Press OK to reset device. (-6097)

Not only this but it somehow also stops me from closing the session and I have to Force Quit Pro Tools every time.

I believe it could be something to do with when I opened Kore as standalone after updating (as NI instructs). Now it must have messed up something's paths somewhere.

This is stopping me doing any music let alone check out my sound pack so if anyone can help it would be very much appreciated.

I do not have an 003 for PT but if I had to guess - you started to mention the standalone problem - I have had that before where Kore got stuck on the audio interface in standalone and it took down protools Kore plugin.

Get Kore 2 open as standalone (I also did this for every synth in Komplete also - if you own it) and get it all working first on the PC, before working on PT - do the following:

    1) open up Kore 2 standalone - go through all interface settings for audio and midi and point them to the same audio and midi device. and make sure everything works in standalone - before going to #2

    2) delete your ProTools prefs (make sure you know how they were before - I have done it many times and know them by heart - although last few months only did it twice - software and drivers are much better now).

    3) open up PT by itself - no song file - (let it rescan and set up again) then check or update your prefs and settings to the way you want them. Make sure that all is good with MIDI and audio interface >>Then close out of PT (to save all pref settings).

    4) Restart PT and build a NEW track in a NEW file, put something simple in it like BOOM and make sure that ALL works. Then load in Kore on a 2nd new track and see if all is OK.

This sould narrow down your hunt for the problem or fix it.

Let me know how it goes.

Many thanks for your reply Cliff. I really appreciate it. I will try that when I get to my music computer.

Before I do though could you explain which ProTools prefs you are referring to on point 2? (I'm away from that computer currently and can't envisage it!)

Then, if I understand correctly, you suggest I delete the ProTools preferences. Close Pro Tools. Open Pro Tools as normal. Add my preferences and close.

If this helps identify anything - Kore 2 is working perfectly as a plugin within Abelton Live 8.

This seems bizarre to me as Kore 2 worked within Pro Tools 9 until I updated my Kore 2 from the Service Center and the problems began.

Well, please understand that I do not even know much about your system, I am just giving you ideas for you to get your system working again.

So the prefs I am talking about are your DAE Prefs in >Program Files > Common Files > Digidesign > DAE > DAE Prefs - not knowing if you are a MAC or PC or if PT 9 has the same names (IE look for the last folder name only) - the DAE Prefs hold plugin info - so I am assuming that this might be at a missmatch and need to be recreated - due to your new download of Kore.

As far as Abelton - different files for reading audio and MIDI interface as PT (is one VST and the other RTAS type plugins?) did you update the RTAS plugin?

Does Kore work perfectly on the comp as standalone with any audio and MIDI interface yet ? - sometimes just toggling the settings and saving in standalone has helped me in the past with Kore and PT lockups.
