It should. Let me ask a couple people ; I probably won't hear anything until Monday.

I got EXACTLY the same problem

    Hi folks,
I got exactly the same problem : installed the KORE Player, then I could use it for exactly one start. Played some patches, all was fine - then, while playing, the system crashed, and rebooted.
Afterwards, the problem described turned up : although the path seems to be OK, no patches are shown.
Uninstalled, cleaned "Native Instruments" entries from registry, re-installed, the same problem. Also moving the content folder and setting this new location in Player made no difference.
What I found out : my folder "Kore 2 Sample Content" contains 1167 files, and all of them are .wav - so, no wonder, there aren't any patch files in there.

So, the decisive question : in which folder should the patches be ?
    ---
OK, by doing an Explorer search, I found the .ksd files (on a german windows XP) at :E:\Programme\Gemeinsame Dateien\Native Instruments\Shared Content\Sounds\Libraries, containing one folder "Kore Player" and one folder "Compilation Vol.1"

But also setting the Player's directory setting to these doesn't do any change.

I bought Kore several years ago, and I remember why I never used it : right at the beginning I stumbled over this question, where the patches and samples and so on are stored, because I wanted to have my library on an external USB disk to share it between two PCs. If I remember right, I quit my whole KORE experiment at that moment when I was not able to find my Kontakt Library in Kore.

Quite annoying that these problems still seem to persist... Is there any detailed documentation in which location Kore and Kontakt expect which files to be ?

    Welcome =)

    ?

Your .ksds (the shared content stuff) shouldn't be on your E: drive- they should be in C:\Program Files\Common Files. That's the default, and it can't be changed.

The samples go wherever you told the installer to put them.

In my case all the waves are in:
    C:\Programme\Native Instruments\Kore Player\Kore 2 Sample Content

and all the ksd files are in:
    C:\Programme\Gemeinsame Dateien\Native Instruments\Shared Content\Sounds\Libraries\Kore Player

    +

    C:\Programme\Gemeinsame Dateien\Native Instruments\Shared Content\Sounds\Libraries\Compilation Vol. 1

It has been set there during the installation..

-Can use the Kore-soundpacks with the Kontakt4-player too?

    I don't get sounds either

I have the audio set to my integrated sound card. I double click a sound to load. Click play, metronome and CPU indicators show function.

I sent a help message to NI and was told I need to send midi notes to it.

Can Kore Player stand alone, or does it require a midi device? Please help me understand!

    Thanks-Rob

    Thanks !

    to ew:

thanks for your quick reply. The drive E: IS my XP system partition, since I have an older system on C: (Win98) and some data on D:.

Today my Komplete 6 upgrade box arrived.Does that mean that I HAVE to install the whole NI software to a c:\ drive, or has it just to be the system drive (which would be E: in my case) ? And : is it really possible to have the WHOLE sound library on ONE external USB drive ?

I am quite horrified by all those postings around here where users weren't able to get all the stuff running with Kore, so I want to do do the installation correctly from the beginning. Can you tell me in which order I should install my Kore 2, B4-II,FM-7 and Komplete 6 ? Btw: since this is an upgrade, do I have to install Kontakt 2 first ?

    Many thanks in advance.

That's probably your problem. As far as I know, the installer wants to see C:\ as your system drive.
The apps can be installed anywhere- on my system, I've got the apps on my E: drive and the sample libraries on my F: drive. However, there's some things (.ksds for the apps that use them, databases and the like) that need to be at C:\Program Files\Common files.
Install all the other apps and update them to the latest versions, and then install Kore. As long as you use the same account that you registered Kontakt under to activate Komplete, you won't need Kontakt 2 installed.

    OK

    Thanks, ew.

"However, there's some things (.ksds for the apps that use them, databases and the like) that need to be at C:\Program Files\Common files."

So the only way to have ALL the sounds and samples in ONE path ist to have it all in C:\Program Files\Common files ? That is a knockout to my procedure of doing sound design in my studio, and carrying the sounds to my band's room on an USB disk.

    That's bad...

Ah- no. You don't really want to keep everything in Program Files/Common Files.

What I would do is keep the sample libraries and user content (which is in My Documents\Native Instruments\Shared Content\Sounds) on your USB drive; the factory content stays in Program Files\Common Files. Since you have the apps installed on your band room's system, they'll be there anyways.
