Koyaanisqatsi Arp would rock if only it behaved better on startup...

    Hi.

I managed to harness the excellent Koyaanisqatsi Arpeggiator Macro (taken from the Koyaanisqatsi Synthesizer Ens) in my hosts (Ableton 6 and Reaper 3) so as to trigger other softsynths with it.

However, one concern remains, namely, its startup behavior when I call up a project containing it in Ableton (as well as in Reaper).

The startup behavior problem is that each time I call up the project with Qatsi I have to manually set the arp's Stepsize (called "StSize" on the Qatsi Arp GUI) to the desired value. Before I adjust the Stepsize, the two cursors (for the Transposition and Duration sequences) run like crazy, and no reasonable MIDI data are generated for my synths to be triggered.
It seemy Qatsi doesn't retain the StepSize param.

So I don't want to have to reset the StSize manually each time I call a set containing Qatsi arp.

What needs to be done ?

    Thx.

I don't have Reaktor on this PC, but have you checked the control in question isn't set to "snap isolate"?

(also bear in mind this is the ensemble of a true Reaktor master, so there might be a good reason why is works like this :))

I have unchecked the "Snap Isolate" Box for the StSize param and resaved the Ens. Upon reloading the Project in Ableton and in Reaper, the odd behavior is still present...

    *scratches his head*

    But thanks for your reply.

Did you save the snapshot and the ensemble?

i think there is a bug with Koyaanisqatsi. i think you need to change your snap to another one and then back to the one you want, then it should work.

    To Moujik and Sowari

    Moujik,
of course I first saved the Snap and then the Ens.
When the Ens (or the Project containing it) has been reloaded, the odd behavior is there again.

    Sowari,
either changing Snaps or readjusting the StSize parameter brings back normal behavior again.

Will we really have to live with this bug or can we not alter the structure somehow ?

the structure is pretty complex, maybe you could send a PM to CList (Chris List, who created it) to see if he will fix the bug?

No offence intended... sometimes it's the simplest things.

Anyway - have you read the info attached to the .ens; there is some more detail on there about the saving of snaps for the arpeggiator that may be useful to you. Sorry I can't help more.

    Thanks Sowari.
I just dissected the SoWaDo Ens and took the beautiful Qatsi Arp out.
Then I made it into an Ens.
In Ableton 6 I can now use it to trigger every synth I want to trigger and it properly starts up with the StepSize param in total recall, the way it was supposed to be.
    Super cool...

Thanks to all, my friends, for helping a stressed composer out.
