    Hey..

New to Reaktor, but getting into it.... What I really want to do is to modify the L3 sequencer so that I can switch between patterns (A-G) using a midi controller (Novation Remote 25SL - drum note buttons preferably), thus giving it similar performance characteristics to Vectory. Also, to be able to perform the mouse functions (for reverse, roll, attack etc..) using the Novations X/Y pad. I'm sure somebody must have done something similar, as it seems so obvious... I'm assuming I need to incorporate the correct controller macros...? Help!

you must find where in the stucture the mouse-area module is that is sending the mouse-click data to whatever is storing it and manipulating it, and you must merge this with your own macro that sends the same range of data using MIDI in modules. the tricky part here is usually getting the ranges right, and also making things work correctly on initialization/startup (since the MIDI in modules will send values, probably 0s, at init, if i remember correctly). shouldnt be too hard to do, although getting it to work 100% bug free is a challenge (i wouldnt worry about that at first, as i said the main problems are usually at init/startup only).

a nice trick for finding where the mouse-area is connected to: unlock the panel, and right-click the mouse-area module over the pattern selector (or, it might be a multipic, either way...), and click "show in structure". this is very useful when hacking other people's ensembles, especially structures like L3 (James Walker-Hall is an amazing programmer, his stuff is very neat but also quite difficult to navigate due to the sheer amount of macro layers).

the XY pad part is another story, and that will take some experimentation. i dont know about the new SL's, but my ReMote 49's XY was kind of annoying. its been awhile, but i think the problem was that when you pressed somewhere on the pad, it first sent the last value you pressed, and then the new one, probably to make things smoother for normal use (but making things really hard in Reaktor!). it might have been something slightly differant, but i do remember that it was tricky (i was trying to do something similar to what Exile does with the Koas pad in the Video, and it was too hard to bother).

i did a mod where i can use MIDI notes starting at C2 (MIDI note 48) to change the patterns A-G.

see picture. it is in the Patterns structure which is in the Seq V5 Structure.

the "Button" toggles between the default control for changing patterns or MIDI notes

Thanks gents... Will give these a go. I have a Kaoss Pad, which already controls some parameters in Reaktor, but maybe I can get it to replace the mouse functions for the reverse, roll, decay etc.... Any input on this gratefully received!

sorry you won't be able to do that with L3, because of how it has been made...it is not designed to work like that :|

i suggest that you go to:-

    http://www.nativeinstruments.de:80/forum_us/showthread.php?t=30930&highlight=beatlookup

scroll through the thread, and download the various Beatlookup.ens.

you can use qwerty keys (MIDI notes starting at 48) to mash up your loops.

Sowari, you're a legend... I modified the L3 based on your diagram, and the pattern change functionality is now working exactly as I wanted it. And I learned a few things en route! Nice one. I'm determined to get hardware control over some more of the functions though... at least the "master" decay at the bottom of the L3...

My QWERTY functions are out unfortunately, as I'm using Reaktor in Pro-tools.

    Thanks again...

the problem here is that all those "knobs" are not knobs at all. they use a combination of Mouse Areas and Multi picture modules, neither of which receive on MIDI. you could substitute a knob but that needs a bit of work because of the build structure.
