    Hi everyone,

I´m considering buying an extra laptop for the single purpose of running kontakt life. As audio interface I´ll probably use the echo indigo.
Now I have a few question. My budget is limited, so I´ll probably have to take a few compromises. Does anyone have experience with celeron systems or shared memory graphic-cards and kontakt? Does it work out ok?

    all the best,

    David

don't go celeron. they don't do well with floating point math which makes them less than desirable for audio applications.

from everything i've heard, the new centrino systems are the way to go. amazing battery life and even with lower processor speeds... matching or beating the latest p4 systems. i think you could just go the pentium-M route to save a bit of money. centrino refers to a combination of the pentium-M and intel based wireless.

otherwise, any of the athlon xp or p4 systems should do nicely. i don't think the money you'll save by going celeron will offset the performance drop.

as for shared video, i don't foresee any problems, but i don't have any first had experience with it.
