    Dave,

The version of Windows 7 that I have on my laptop is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

I use a 3 year-old 15" MacBook Pro with a 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 3 GB of RAM as my main guitar rig. I use it for both studio recording and live gigs and it has always provided all the power and reliability I require.

    I use two audio interfaces:

In the studio, I use a MOTU UltraLight firewire audio interface which allows me to choose a very a small buffer size (64 samples, which yields very low latency) using HQ mode at 24 bit/96 KHz sampling rate.

On live gigs I use the NI RigKontrol 3 USB audio interface in HQ mode at 24 bit/44.1 Khz with a larger buffer size (128 samples, which still provides a latency low enough for live gigs).

I have also tried to use various PC laptops running Windows XP and Vista as a back-up machine from time to time and have never found them to be as reliable as the MacBook Pro running OS X.

I have not used a PC Laptop with Windows 7 so I can not comment on that combination.

That's good to hear! I would like to give the 64bit version a shot...I still have to research the other software I have on the laptop to see if it will work or not.

    Best of luck with that!

I am very happy with my set up!
I play in a working rock, pop, and blues band in Ohio.
The Session I/O is one of the best tools that I have found for practicing guitar. Not to mention it keeps the wife happy with not having to hear my amp rig when I am working on some tunes.

A happy honey is a happy guitar player!;)

    Keep Rockin!
