Hello everyone..reasonably new to posting on this forum but been following for a long time..i really need you guys honest opionion and advice..
Im currently running FS1.5 on my dell inspiron 600m with 1.5 Pentium M and 384mb ram (windows SP1) with no real problems at all apart from occasional clicks/bad sound and a few crashes (nothing major though and always works after restarting the app)..i must say ive found it a god send both in being able to play all those tunes i cant get/afford on vinyl and being able to play doubles and make my own samples..
Now ive ordered FS2 (in fact i ordered it about a month ago from djgear.co.uk but still waiting as noone in uk seems to be able to get it).. The due date keeps being put back and put back and i must admit all this waitings making me so nervous..the shop is trying to persuade me to switch to serato and i am soo **** scared that FS2 is not going to run on my comp (i bought a Swann firewire card with texas isntuments chip apparantly)...i want your guys Honest advice..Do you thknk FS2 will run ok on this comp or do you thnk i should play it safe and go serato...i know it is impossible to know whether it will work or not but try please..
I really really want all the features of FS2 looping, cue markers, traktor dj etc but to be honest id trade it all in just for aystem that i can scratch and beat juggle on like regualr vinyl...how close do you think FS2 comes to proper emulation and is serato better or worse (if any of you have tried on both)...

Many many thanks in advance and keep up all the good work troops

    Peace
    Jazz

Hehe, dont you think that this is the wrong board to ask? I mean, ask on a FS board, the users will recommend FS, ask on a serato board, serato will be recommened. I suggest to read some opinions here and compare them with serato opinions from their board.

Another thing, you are keen to use FS2 looping functions? From what I have read, you cant user user defined loops with FS2, you must have TDJ 2.6 which you either have to buy separately or you are going to participate in the trade in deal, though it looks like a lot of users are waiting to get their rebate/trade-in-deal and of course TDJ 2.6 due to obvious reasons (its not released yet).

    i like them both

i have fs2 i had 1.5 i love fs2, however i do have bugs with it. i have a friend that has ssl and he loves. i think that it is great, having said that he does get audio drops from time to time on his ssl.
the big factor for me to choose fs2 was the soundcard and midi intigration. the question you ask is one that you have to decide for yourself. you could let it ride and see if all the bugs get sorted fairly quickly in fs..... just my 2 bits

I think fs2 is much better thrn fs1.5. They are fixing (or maybey they are done fixing) the problems with fs2 right now.. we are just waiting for them to release it.

Got my FS2 before christmas. I've had FS1 since it came out 3 years ago. 1.5.4 worked rock solid for me, but i hated the sound quality. FS2 works flawlessly for me, got the known bugs tho such as the buffer problem. But after playing around with the settings the last months it is now at a minimum. Last saturday I played out at a local club. The sound engineers and one of the other dj's were so negative about FS and said good luck it'll never work. I was really pressured up til the moment where my set started. We had a big active monitor speaker right infront of one of the turntables. I was just praying that FS wouldn't F*** up on me because of this, and the needles on the turntables. Thing is that FS2 passed the test absolutely without any problems! Sound was so nice, I was worried that my mp3's would sound bad on this massive soundsystem, but I might as well have played cd's, the sound was excellent! I didn't have one single problem in the hour I played. I don't even think people noticed that I used a laptop. Next time I'm playing out with FS2 I'll be completely calm because I know it works 100% at home and in the club. Only thing that could be considered a slight problem was that the A&H mixer wasn't too good with the SA because FS2 has a very loud output and the A&H mixer is extremely sensitive. So i didn't have much gain to play with. But I just compensated for it manually and watched my levels. The sound engineer gave me thumbs up for my sound through the set.
Sorry for this long post but I've seen enough flames about FS and I'd just like to tell my best experience with FS2 so far. Even if there never came an update I wouldn't care because Finalscratch is so close to flawless now. I love it!

I have both FS2 and SSL. I am in the process of getting as many DJ's with many backgrounds as I can to do a review with as many objective opinions as possible.

I just recieved SSL yesterday for the review, I have not opened it yet.

If anyone in Central Texas would like to participate please feel free to contact me.

I plan on doing this the 1st or 2nd week of March to hopefully give FS2 enough time to release their CD Bug issue.

This review will be for both the Vinyl and CD Time Code.

This in not to bash either product they both have their stong and weak points. This is just an honest review of both from as many participants as possible.

    Respectfully,
    DJ MDX

    Thanks for replying everyone...
im going to stick with stanton..my 1.5 works well enough i just pray fs2 has the same stability on my comp..i can always get more ram though if necessary i suppose.
To nik39 yeah i know you cant use user defined loops till TDJ but im going to do the trade in (the europe ones been extented to end of march now which is lucky cos im still frikking waiting for my SA

You can still put up to 15 loops on the vinyl though cant you..? i thought the whole idea was that you could put a loop in each of the 1 minute marker..

    Peace
