You Can't Layer Drums Yet.......for Example On The Roland Mv's Each Sound Patch Gives 4 Layer Slots Etc...to Stack 2 Kicks, Or Snare Together For Example....however The 1.5 Update Will Let You Copy Midi Notes.....if So Just Copy Your Notes From One Sound Slot To Another, Then On The Other Assigned The Sound You Want To Layer With The 1st Sound......

To layer multiple samples on the same pad do you have to use the mouse?

From the UI, enter sample mode then click on MAPPING.

You can load up multiple samples to cover different velocity and note mappings. You can also use the same sample and tweak some of the parameters for it (ie: tone)

I just figured this out the other day and have come up with some neat results. Loading up a bunch of similar sounding samples, mapping them to different velocities, then playing around with note-repeat -- found it to be a quick way to build up some interesting sounding loops when each hit is at a different velocity, but also using a different sound.

Don't think this can be done via hardware.

    But,

    - Click on sound/pad you want to do this for
    - Click on the "Sample" icon to go into sampling mode
    - Click on "Map"

You can adjust the keys / velocity that the sound uses, you can also drag/drop other sounds from your library/disk into here and adjust the keys/velocity.

You can make parts of them over-lap so always hitting C2 triggers both, or adjust samples to have different keys/velocities so different sounds get triggered from the same pad.
