I recently read an article on Engadget regarding a new product called Leap Motion. It's an advanced gesture controller that appears to have some amazing capabilities. Since there are some that have also posted threads about using touch screens for use with Traktor, I decided to post this thread and see what people think of using this product with Traktor. I would be interested in trying it out.

i've seen this too and i'm curious how good that works in reality.
    interesting concept!

IMHO, touch and gesture WILL be the future of controlling things.

(not sure though, if that'd be sth for traktor)

I can't see touch screens taking over totally ... and at the risk of sounding gay you all know you can beat a good twist on a knob ....!..
I can see a blend of both tho...!

While many people continue to wait for the Microsoft Kinect to become the fantastic motion control hardware that changes the way we use computers, Leap Motion may have an inside track. The fully 3-D motion control program will be bundled with Asus PC laptop computers soon, then other platforms. Have you heard that the first reviews are quite positive? Take a review at here.

All these new techs are awesome and they WILL have a huge impact on DJing....

BUT... nothing will ever replace 'grabbing something and having a real good fiddle with with'

...and that's true for many things in life

Nice find I will wait a while before trying anything like this. Mainly cause apps are so buggy everywhere. Too many devs out there. Hopefully all this technology evens out soon.

But definitely a cool find and something to watch out for.

    that's what i mean.

in my (technically) ideal world it would be like e.g.:

coming home. door opens via a click of my key, similar to a car key (i actually tried that a few times by accident, so it seems to be sth natural ^^)

clap my hands: light goes on. move hands to adjust the brightness.

put chocolate drink in microwave. microwave starts automatically with a certain time, fine-tune the time via hand moving.

snap fingers to start TV. move hands up and down for volume, left and right to raise/lower channel.

    ...

and still, i would use turntables for DJing :)
