last Controller Editor supporting Kore HW controllers is v1.7.4

This is what I did to have v1.7.4 and v1.8+ simultanously on my systems:

    A) Win8+
    1) remove folder "../Native Instruments/Controller Editor"
    2) download and install Controller Editor v1.7.4 (legacy; in your user account)
    3) rename the newly created folder "Controller Editor" to "Controller Editor v1.7.4"
    4) download and install Controller Editor v1.8+ (current; in your user account)

=> I am able to run v1.7.4 for Kore HW and v1.8+

    B) OS X 10.10.3+
    1) remove folder "../Native Instruments/Controller Editor"
    2) download and install Controller Editor v1.7.4 (legacy; in your user account)
    3) rename the newly created folder "Controller Editor" to "Controller Editor v1.7.4"
    4) download and install Controller Editor v1.8+ (current; in your user account)
=> I am able to run v1.7.4 for Kore HW and v1.8+

OK I'm glad I found this because this is seriously making me froth at the mouth. Having previously installed 1.8 and found that I could no longer control my Kore unit, and having angrily uninstalled and rolled back, I determined not to update it. However today I did update Komplete Kontrol, and to my shock and horror IT AUTOMATICALLY UPDATED CONTROLLER EDITOR AS WELL. Native Instruments, COME ON!!!! This is seriously insane and absolutely cements my resolve to never trust them with a foundational platform again. Akai Advance is looking better all the time.

    Here, too

I still can't believe what NI is doing: Kore2 was too complicated to maintain? Look at what they are doing with Komplete Control!!! I can clearly see the intention, but the way they are trying to achieve simplification of control/library is way to complex. More complex than Kore2 ever was, with Kore2 being way more flexible considering control/library...

I clearly can not understand this at all. The amount of work that has gone into this all would have been better invested into their superior foundational product years ago.

However, that's my opinion. We will see how this all evolves. I'm absolutely discouraged to invest further in NI. It's no more my cup of coffee. I in fact stopped investing when they dropped Kore2. And I'm still not not motivated to, after all these years.

Kore 2 was much more complex to maintain from programming standpoint, because of engine integration etc.

I am a programmer, and I do not think so. The engine integration could have been resolved by an enhancement to all their plugins thus that these show their UI Editor only when the user has a license (as the engine plugins seem to already have implemented, BTW) and their plugin parameters are only exposed to the host if the host is Kore (or any NI host NI decides to (could easily be implemented with forward compatibility) or the user has a license for the plugin.
    Or whatever...
(you can see these enhancements as providing a "player" version of all their plugs, with some player versions only work in Kore)
Each Kore version brings the latest "player" plugins with it. Individual updates of plugins could be delivered, too.
Preset compatibility between subversions of plugins is assumed in any case.

However, I don't know their code, I can only assume. But the "foundation" was already there years ago. The ressources wasted (imho) for Komplete Control and its derivatives (Machine/plugins' browser changes/preset formats etc) could have been way better spend to enhance and simplify AND enhance Kore2 and its underlying framework/design/dependancies.

Hi Guys. Nice tip : I now have two Controller Editors, one able to control Kore 2. Thanks a lot.
But I can't find MCU template in Controller Editor factory templates. Could someone share it somewhere I could download it easily ?

    Thanks a lot.
