Let's Talk About the Heavyocity Sale

Specifically, has anybody considered getting any of the instruments at 50% off?

There are several that have my interest because they aren't in Komplete 10 Ultimate.
Gravity
Natural Forces
Vocalize
and the Aeon Collection
And probably more.

I hesitate, however; because I fear that I'll buy some and then they'll end up being included in Komplete 11.

 

Those are independent Heavyocity products so I highly doubt they'd be included in future versions of Komplete 11. If I'm not mistaken, only a couple of the very early Heavyocity libraries ever became NI products.

Thank you David. I think your assessment is reasonable. I'll think this over. Even with the discount, none of these are really cheap. And you have to have the main instrument before you buy a pack. For example, you have to have Gravity before you can use either of the Gravity packs: Natural Forces and Vocalise. So just for those, the price shoots up over $350.

But they really sound great in the demos, so I'm quite tempted.

PS: I put the original post in the Kontakt section only because they use the Kontakt player. I never really know where to post most of my threads. I still think there should be a "Komplete 8, 9, 10, and other sound library bundles" forum section.

 

Are you sure about that? This page says that Gravity is not required (at least not for Vocalise).

Wrong, the packs work just fine in kontakt without gravity.

AEON Melodic is my all-time favorite Kontakt library. I wish there were more like it. A broad range of unique, layered, musical sounds. And no, don't expect these to show up in Komplete.

 

This one is really tempting me, but I'M saving for Omnisphere 2...

 

I was expecting something different with gravity, but a cinematic theme for me is meh. I liked the industrial slant of their other products.

 

To me, Gravity is very ethereal, and its two packs even moreso.

I'm strongly thinking of jumping on these, but damn, it's $900 for everything I want, and it looks like they're managed outside of Service Center, which might be a pain.

 

Bought Vocalise yesterday. Sounds pretty slick. The lib is very strong with regards to phrases, there are LOTS of them.

However, they're recorded in A minor, C minor, D sharp minor and F sharp minor - annoying thing is, that they're stuffed into different instruments.
The keys around C-1 allow for transposition, but the samples begin to sound ugly very very soon, that is, as soon as the distance to the root key gets larger than one halftone. That wouldn't be a problem, if Heavyocity would stack those four instruments recorded in A minor, C minor, D sharp minor and F sharp minor into one layered instrument (because 4 x 3 appears happily to be 12) but Heavyocity didn't.
Anyway, they decided to not put the same phrases to the same keys. For example, for each instrument the phrase at E3 is different. Why Heavyocity chose to do that is beyond me.

 

Hello. I should have looked at your post before making my purchase. I'm just waiting for the "Yay, you can download now!" email. Oh well, I guess I'll figure out something. Maybe I'll just autotune everything! Okay, just kidding. Looking forward to seeing what's in these.

 

I really think you have some very constructive points. I would like to suggest you communicate directly with Heavyocity on them. I had an issue once and was aided directly by one of the founders, (as opposed to cs flunkie). Every little bit helps make the world a better place. Thanks.

 

You are SO right about this. If I observe the same things as Hafer, I assure you, I will contact them myself.

 

For some reason I can not shake the feeling that NI is about to buy Heavyocity ...

that might be too bad in my book....certainly there may be 4 guys there visiting a maserati dealership in anticipation, but true creativity comes best in small packages- and for our sake Id like to see it remain that way. (Sorry, H-guys )

 

Anybody know if there is there going to be an update to existing owner that will enable full NKS functionality? I've search all over the web with no answer, and nothing on service center either.
