Library Cleanup after update

hi,

first:
i downloaded the update, requested the serial (K4 user), but did not receive the email with the new serial.

i finally found the serial number on-line with my other authorizations, but the promised email never came...

second:

after activating, i wanted to uninstall v1.0 ( i do not need both versions installed).

however, i do not understand the resulting library structure.

the library contains duplicate sub-folders for the v1.0 install and the updated v1.5 install.

ie.

Instruments
Instruments 1.5
Performances
Performances 1.5
Instruments Kontakt 2

plus .nkc and .nkx files for both installs, as well.

i assume that i can delete the old sub-folders and nkc/nkx files, but would like some confirmation of that from someone who knows what is going on...

and is the Instruments Kontakt 2 sub-folder still needed for the 1.5 update?

i don't think NI did a very clear job explaining how to update to v1.5 AND remove v1.0 safely with respect to the library.

any ideas?

 

You'll find the answer in the readme.txt:

* Complete rewrite based on the Kontakt 2 engine. It is therefore
neither able to read old instruments, performances, or recall host
projects. Keep using the existing version for that purpose.

If you won't use Kontakt2, you may delete the 'Instruments Kontakt 2' subfolder.

 

It's always a good idea to keep the previous version at least until you're sure you've opened all the old projects you're going to and updated them, or not. Otherwise it comes up "missing plugin" and unless you made a note of it you're left wondering "what sound did I use on that again...?"
