As a couple of people have suggested (see below) we need a means to link tracks that we know work well together, not simply by tags but by some kind of direct reference or embedded playlist (embed the playlist in a column-based dropdown or right/click?). Making separate playlists or using the comments field is possible but super time-consuming and messy.

    pretty please?

+1 My aging brain would be forever grateful as I forge my path into a land where remembering things is a thing of a past I no longer remember. Am I making any sense?

I wasn't being facetious. I really think I lose memory of a lot of good mixes because I don't revisit them often enough.

not at all, sorry, it didn't go over well as text....I just meant that I'm definitely getting er...'vintage' myself so know what you mean. That said I learned many years ago when producing that recording everything, especially just messing about mixing for an hour or two is a great way to find/note things that work. Also going back and using a screen shot of the archive playlist as the image for mp3s on iPhone etc is a real help in sticking it in your head.

How about a flowchart/mind mapping solution, somewhat like this picture?

I mentioned this as an idea for Beatport Pro, but it would be great if it was directly implemented into Traktor:
"It would be neat to have an option be able to see all the tracks we had as bubbles, as in a traditional mind mapping setting. We could then "connect" songs that mix well together or that we've used to transition before. This way, when we are creating "new" playlists or sets for mixes, we can select a song, and see all the songs that we've designated to transition into as bubbles coming off from the one selected. From there, a new bubble is selected, and the songs designated as transitions from this "new" bubble appear. Playlists can therefore be created to "flow" through songs that we know mix well together, and after enough bubbles are selected, perhaps they can be exported as a traditional playlist."

I'd call it "Traktor Flow" or something stupid like that (Since it promotes mixes that "flow" better ;). The nice thing is that this would give the user the ability to link "multiple" tracks to the same one.[IMG]

Not a bad idea for getting from one song to another down the line that you're hellbent on incorporating into a set without forcing it.
